AT&T U-verse TV Customers Denied a Fair Deal by Hallmark

DALLAS, Sept. 1 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- AT&T U-verse® TV customers have been denied a fair deal for Hallmark Channel and Hallmark Movie Channel programming by Crown Media. AT&T* issued the following statement to update its customers:

"We are very disappointed that Hallmark has refused to provide AT&T and its customers with a fair deal -- one that is no worse than similarly-sized and smaller providers -- and refused to adhere to key obligations under our current deal. We offered to extend the current deal while talks continued, and Hallmark rejected that offer. Hallmark has forced us into a position where we no longer have the rights to carry the Hallmark channels as of 12:01 EDT. We don't want customers to lose their programming, but we believe strongly that our customers should not have to pay more than their fair share for Hallmark's channels, which is exactly what Hallmark is demanding."

In the place of Hallmark Channel and Hallmark Movie Channel, AT&T U-verse customers will be able to enjoy a free preview of the popular family programming from Starz Kids & Family on channel 176 and Turner Classic Movies on channels 794/1794. And since several of Hallmark's programs are available on other U-verse channels, customers will be able to find these programs using the U-verse Search feature, by hitting "Menu" on their U-verse remote and selecting "Live TV" and then "Search."

The wish day began for these kids and their families in Hollywood, CA, where they met up with representatives from Saputo Inc. and the Make-A-Wish Foundation. The Frigo® Cheese Heads® brand costume character met each wish kid and provided them with a goodie bag to start off their day. The wish kids and their families mingled and took pictures with the costume character as the excitement for their wish grew. En route to Nickelodeon Studios, the bus drivers treated the families to a tour of celebrated Southern California landmarks, including Rodeo Drive, the Kodak Theatre, the Hollywood Walk of Fame and the Hollywood sign.

At Nickelodeon Studios, the kids received VIP passes and toured the facilities, including the iCarly set. The kids explored all the show's primary shooting locations: Carly's bedroom, the loft, the elevator, the kitchen, the living room and the school. They also checked out two new swing sets that will be used in an upcoming episode. The kids especially enjoyed bouncing off the trampoline onto Carly's bed and discovering the random doors and hallways that lead to nowhere.

After checking out the set, the families traveled to a nearby elementary school where iCarly star Miranda Cosgrove was doing a network promo shoot. After a general Q&A session with all the wish kids and their families, Miranda met each wish kid individually - posing for pictures and signing autographs. NASHVILLE, Tenn., Aug. 31 /PRNewswire/ -- Final nominees for the nation's top Country radio stations and broadcast personalities were delivered to Country Radio today, when Steel Magnolia revealed the 2010 CMA Broadcast Personality and Radio Station of the Year finalists live from Nashville's Ryman Auditorium. The announcements were carried live to Country radio stations by CMA's official radio partner Premiere Radio Networks.

The winners will be notified in mid-October and will be acknowledged at "The 44th Annual CMA Awards," to be held Wednesday, Nov. 10 (8:00-11:00 PM/ET) and broadcast live by the ABC Television Network from the Bridgestone Arena in Nashville. Brad Paisley and Carrie Underwood return to host "Country Music's Biggest Night" for a third year.

The CMA Broadcast Awards finalists were revealed at a press conference today where select CMA Awards finalists were also announced by Justin Moore and Chris Young. Additional CMA Award final nominees will be announced Wednesday, Sept. 1 (8:30 AM/All time zones) on ABC's "Good Morning America," and all CMA Award finalists will be featured during "CMT Insider Special Edition: 2010 CMA Awards Nominations," premiering on Wednesday, Sept. 1 (11:00 AM/ET). The 30-minute special will re-air on Saturday, Sept. 4 (1:30 PM/ET), and again on Sunday, Sept. 5 (11:00 AM/ET).

As always, the National Broadcast Personality of the Year category is a tough race. Lon Helton is already the record holder in the category with four wins in 2002, 2004, 2006, and 2008. Not far behind, Lia Knight, won the category in 2005 and 2007, and with four previous nominations under their belt, Lorianne Crook and Charlie Chase are looking to nab their first trophy.

Five finalists are selected for CMA Broadcast Personality and CMA Radio Station of the Year in four categories: small, medium, large, and major market; however, there was a tie in the Major Market Broadcast Personality of the Year category resulting in six finalists in this category for 2010. The categories are established by market size based on population as ranked by Arbitron. Entries for Broadcast Personality of the Year are judged on aircheck, ratings, community involvement, and biographical information. Candidates for Station of the Year are judged on airchecks, ratings history, community involvement, and format leadership.

Three finalists are selected for National Broadcast Personality of the Year. To be eligible, candidates must be syndicated, short-form, hub voice-tracking, and satellite personalities heard in at least three markets with a minimum of 40 shows per year.

CMA members who are full-time, on-air personalities and CMA member radio stations in the United States and Canada were eligible to enter. The entries are judged by a panel of distinguished broadcast professionals, representing all market sizes and regions.

An aggregate score of the first round of judging and the second round, which is done by a different panel of judges, determines the winners. The international accounting firm of Deloitte & Touche LLP tabulates scoring by the judges. CMA Broadcast Award winners are not eligible to enter in consecutive years; therefore, those who received trophies in 2009 were not eligible in 2010.

Chevrolet's Battle of the Dad Bands begins accepting entries; contest to culminate at State Fair of Texas

DALLAS, Aug. 31 /PRNewswire/ -- Dads, it's time to dust off the guitars, invite your buddies over for a jam session, and crank it up to eleven! Chevrolet today announced the online call for entries for the Chevy Texas Dad Bands contest. Bands composed of dads from all over the state are invited to participate in the competition. Five finalists will have the opportunity to vie for the title of the "Best Dad Band in Texas" at a performance during the State Fair of Texas in October.

"Some of the greatest musical acts today consist of dads and it's that spirit we're hoping to capture and celebrate," says Chevrolet regional communications manager Craig Eppling. "Being a dad can be a full-time job, but that doesn't mean you can't make time to rock out every now and then."

Beginning today and through September 27, Texas dad bands can submit videos, MP3s, and photos of their talents online at chevydadbands.com. Competing bands will be encouraged to generate support for their entry by driving visitors to the website to cast votes for their favorites.

Each submission will be given an aggregate score based on results from online polling and a rating based on a band's entertainment value and overall performance. The bands with the top five scores will win a trip to Dallas, where they will all play in front of fairgoers and an independent panel of judges on the Chevrolet Truck Row Stage at the State Fair of Texas on October 16.

Ryan Fox of Dallas/Fort Worth's 99.5 The Wolf will be among the judges who will be on hand at the State Fair of Texas to help award the top prize.

"We know there are a lot of dads looking for an opportunity to put down their kids' sippy cups, take a break from coaching soccer, and pick up their axes and rock out," says Fox. "We're looking for real talent, together with Texas-sized passion and enthusiasm for making great music."

The band with the best combination of music quality, stage presence, and crowd engagement will be crowned the "Best Dad Band in Texas," and will walk away with an invitation to attend a taping of the Texas Music Scene television program where they will have an opportunity to record a song to be aired during the show's broadcast.

Five finalists will be notified of their selection by September 30. A few eligibility rules:

"The 44th Annual CMA Awards" will be broadcast live from the Bridgestone Arena in Nashville, Wednesday, Nov. 10 (8:00-11:00 PM/ET) on the ABC Television Network. "Country Music's Biggest Night(TM)" will be hosted for the third time by Brad Paisley and Carrie Underwood.

The 2009 CMA Awards, held in Nashville during Sweeps (Nov. 11), ranked behind only the Academy Awards and Grammy Awards during the 2009-2010 season for awards shows among total viewers. With "The 43rd Annual CMA Awards," ABC won the night in both total viewers (17.2 million) and adults 18-49 (5.3/14). According to Nielsen research, 35.8 million unique viewers ages 2+ watched six minutes or more of the program.

The CMA Awards nominees and winners are determined by the 6,000 industry professional members of CMA, which was formed in 1958 as the first trade organization dedicated to promoting an individual genre of music. The first CMA Awards Banquet and Show was held in 1967. The following year, the CMA Awards was broadcast on NBC television for the first time - making it the longest running, annual music awards program on network television. The show aired on NBC through 1971 and on the CBS Television Network from 1972 through 2005 before moving to ABC in 2006.

/PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Lionsgate (NYSE:LGF) (the "Company") today announced that it has received a revised unsolicited tender offer from Carl Icahn and certain of his affiliated entities (the "Icahn Group") to acquire up to all of Lionsgate's outstanding common shares for U.S.$7.50 per share in cash.

Consistent with its fiduciary duties and in consultation with its financial and legal advisors, Lionsgate's Board of Directors will review Mr. Icahn's revised offer and will make its recommendation to shareholders promptly.

The Board of Directors' recommendation will be included in an amended Solicitation/Recommendation Statement filing on a Schedule 14D-9. Lionsgate added that there is no need for shareholders to take any action at this time.
