Halle Berry, Dwayne 'The Rock' Johnson & Marcia Cross Co-Host the 12th Annual Revlon Run/Walk for Women in Los Angeles
LOS ANGELES, April 27 /PRNewswire/ -- The Entertainment Industry Foundation announced today that Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson will join Revlon Spokeswoman and Academy Award(R) Winner Halle Berry and "Desperate Housewives" star, Marcia Cross, as co-hosts of the 12th annual Revlon Run/Walk For Women at the Los Angeles Coliseum on Saturday, May 7, 2005. Presented by the Entertainment Industry Foundation (EIF), the Revlon Run/Walk For Women raises critical funds to support women's cancer research, counseling and outreach programs in the Los Angeles area and nationwide.
Co-chaired by Ellen Barkin and Ronald O. Perelman and Lilly Tartikoff, the Revlon Run/Walk For Women continues to garner tremendous support not only among Angelenos, but also residents from across the Southern California region. Among the largest 5K events in the nation, the Revlon Run/Walks in New York and Los Angeles have raised approximately $32 million dollars in funds since first launching in Los Angeles eleven years ago.
"We all live with cancer. Whether it is present in ourselves or affects someone we love. The Revlon Run/Walk effort to focus on women's cancer has my wholehearted support and gratitude," says Dwayne Johnson. "I'm honored to be a part of such a wonderful event."
The Revlon Run/Walk For Women in Los Angeles was created in 1993 through the combined efforts of the Entertainment Industry Foundation, Lilly Tartikoff, Ronald O. Perelman and The Davis Group. Proceeds from past Revlon Run/Walks have funded research contributing to the development of important new therapies, such as Herceptin(R), the first in the wave of new targeted cancer treatments. Funds have also helped numerous organizations in providing education, advocacy and outreach services to those affected by women's cancers.
Los Angeles area beneficiaries for 2005 include: The Revlon/UCLA Women's Cancer Research Program; National Women's Cancer Research Alliance (NWCRA); The Wellness Community; WIN Against Breast Cancer; USC/Norris Comprehensive Cancer Center and Hospital Ovarian & Breast Cancer Program; The UCLA Digital Mammography Program; T.H.E. (To Help Everyone) Clinic, Inc.; Los Angeles Breast Cancer Alliance; Torrance Memorial Medical Center; Women of Color Breast Cancer Survivors Support Project; Team Survivor Los Angeles; Providence Saint Joseph Foundation, Art of Healing-Women's Health; Pacific Asian Language Services (PALS) for Health; Gilda Radner Ovarian and Breast Cancer Detection Program at Cedars Sinai Medical Center; John Wayne Cancer Institute; and weSPARK Cancer Support Center.
