WQLN Minimizes Errors, Improves Broadcast Reliability with Expansion of NVerzion Automation/Archive

NVerzion provides WQLN with seamless switching for three channels as well as frame accurate recording and segmenting

SALT LAKE CITY, June 13 /PRNewswire/ -- NVerzion, a 20-year provider of automation control, monitoring and integrated storage management solutions, announced WQLN Public Media has completed the expansion of WQLN TV's automation and archive system, giving the Erie Pennsylvania PBS affiliate greater control and consistency in the management and content delivery of the station's three channels.

Although WQLN had the content to provide the Erie community with a diverse array of educational, informative, engaging, inspiring, and creative HD broadcast programs and services, the station was plagued with delivery issues including unwatchable signals and dropped programming. To minimize errors and improve reliability, WQLN TV returned to NVerzion to assist with an expansion of components. The result has been improved functionality as well as greater archival capacity to support the station's growing HD content delivery requirements.

"NVerzion came in much cheaper than any other solution, with the same functionality," said Aaron Coseo, Chief Engineer for WQLN Public Media. "They are always there when I need assistance. We are very pleased with the results and improvements of this expansion and are now able to experience seamless switching for all three channels, frame accurate recording and segmenting."

The WQLN expansion order included three NControl application licenses providing the station with greater functionality to create, edit and schedule programming; NGest, to accurately transfer material from one format to another; NPoint to preview, trim, segment and create new segmented clips from existing clips on a video server, NTime to provide automated record events; CPIM and a TeraStore 24/1500 Nearline Storage system. The CPIM, or Creative Protocol Interface Module is a gateway interface to the traffic system for dynamic updates and synchronization using XML messaging. Using this powerful tool, WQLN can manage their database, archive, schedule and other vital tools with far greater efficiency. The TeraStore scalable storage archive provides the station with fast access to terabytes of content in a compact and convenient rack mount configuration providing WQLN with faster than real-time transfers and the freedom to invest only in the storage they need.

"The modular architecture of the NVerzion automation line is ideal for clients like WQLN, providing the ability to increase and expand the capabilities as needed rather than having to purchase a higher priced package you have to grow into," said Reed Haslam, Director of Sales for NVerzion.
