Help Is on the Way for 152 Million Working Americans
CARLSBAD, Calif., July 13 /PRNewswire/ -- Pierre A. Towns, the Executive Director of the Employee Empowerment Institute, announced today the development of the groundbreaking talk radio show "The Water Cooler" on BlogTalkRadio.com. The first show will air worldwide July 21st at 7:00 p.m. PDT. The inaugural show topic will be, "Is Misclassification Costing You Thousands of Dollars in Salary and Benefits?" Listeners can call in to anonymously discuss their workplace issues and receive a fair and honest opinion from a 35-year human resources executive. The shows will also be archived and capable of 24/7 access.
According to Towns, "On the job, the water cooler, break room or lunch room is where employees traditionally gather to discuss the work issues of the day. Our show improves on this cathartic ritual by adding a knowledgeable, 'neutral' discussion facilitator and expanding the venue to include the Internet community. We are dedicated to supporting the American worker by developing and distributing information that will enhance their ability to 'become all they can be' and avoid being taken advantage of because they don't know their rights. Instead of relying on traditional organization representatives to empower workers to manage their work-life experience, our show will encourage workers to assume that responsibility!"
Empirical data has indicated that many traditional workforce advocates have been compromised. More and more is being demanded of the U.S. worker, at times when company representatives are not as effective at influencing management and protecting the rights of employees. In addition, the majority of the American workforce is not represented by a union nor has an HR representative to intercede when there is an issue.
An abundance of recent research, including The National Survey of Workforce Engagement and Watson Wyatt's survey, indicate workers are not "engaged" in their current work situations:
-- One in three American employees is chronically overworked, while 54%
have felt overwhelmed at some time in the past month;
-- Just 33% of U.S. workers agreed that their company's performance
management program works;
-- Only 20% of workers say their company helps poorly performing workers
improve;
-- Only 54% of workers believe their company sets high expectations.
The Employee Empowerment Institute is dedicated to supporting the American worker by providing a safe place for employees to discuss their workplace issues, get help, and improve personal and career development skills. By doing so, workers can increase their job satisfaction and career opportunities, and employers will increase effectiveness and efficiency.
