United Football League Reveals Team Logos for 'Premiere' Season

United Football League Reveals Team Logos for 'Premiere' Season

RUTHERFORD, N.J., Oct. 2 /PRNewswire/ -- The United Football League officially unveiled its helmet art, which features the teams' primary logos, today for its four franchises - the California Redwoods, Florida Tuskers, Las Vegas Locomotives and New York Sentinels. The UFL kicks off its "Premiere" season on Thursday, October 8th, at Sam Boyd Stadium in Las Vegas where the Locos host the Redwoods. Photos of the logos accompany this press release and additional information about the logo design can be found at www.ufl-football.com.

"We are very proud of the designs of the teams' helmet logos and feel that they truly convey the personalities of the team names and their relevance to the local markets," said Frank Vuono, COO of the UFL. "Each team mark is distinctive, yet still carries the League's unifying theme of tradition with innovation. Ron Caruso, of Purepartner, did an outstanding job of creating both the teams' helmet logos and the uniform design for the UFL's 'Premiere' season. Our uniforms will evolve in our second season with colors and designs which reflect the team names and logos. We believe we have given our fans team marks they can rally behind and ultimately wear proudly in support of their UFL teams."

The inspiration behind the design of the California Redwoods logo is to communicate the majesty of the world's tallest living thing, reaching to the sky with strength and stability. The primary mark utilizes references of tree textures and takes inspiration from the crests and shields indicative of our many parks and wildlife destinations. A stylized "R" cutting through the shield introduces the speed, agility and excitement to the mark.

The "Tusker" boar, native to the Florida wild, is known for its toughness, intelligence, quickness and ferocity. The logo for this Florida franchise translates signature characteristics of this unique animal including its "ridge," tusks and snout into proud, strong and imposing symbols to represent the team.

The Las Vegas Locos logo was developed to illustrate the convergence of Las Vegas' origins as a railroad town and its evolution into the entertainment capital of the world. An abstraction of a steam engine cattle catcher meeting the current excitement of the city today, the Locos' logo reflects the spirit of "getting a little wild in Vegas."

A Sentinel is defined as "one who stands guard", and the logo for the New York franchise is inspired by the presence of the mythical and real heroes which stand guard to protect the City of New York. The shield represents strength and stability, and the heroic angels reference the imposing scale of its landscape, aspiring upward as a tribute to the overall spirit of New Yorkers.

The UFL's first game on October 8th will be broadcast on VERSUS at 9:00 pm ET. On Saturday, October 10th, the Florida Tuskers will host the New York Sentinels at the Citrus Bowl. This game will be broadcast on HDNet at 7:00 pm ET. Tickets are still available for both games and can be purchased by calling 877.UFL.2009 or visiting www.ufl-football.com.
