NEW YORK, Oct. 2 /PRNewswire/ -- About 400 registrants attended the Seventh Annual Hispanic Television Summit, presented by Broadcasting & Cable and Multichannel News on September 23 and 24 at the Marriott Marquis in Times Square. The Summit was the Hispanic cornerstone event during 2009 Advertising Week in New York.

Registration closely matched attendance levels from last year. About 50% of the registrants were first-time attendees or "returnees" after an absence of at least one year.

Attendees were from the U.S., Latin America, and Spain and represented networks, broadcasters, pay TV providers, broadband and mobile, financial investors, researchers, advertisers and agencies.

Returning sponsors included Fox Sports en Espanol (Presenting Sponsor), Univision Networks and VCI Solutions as well as Telemundo / mun2, Condista, La Familia / Cosmovision, TuTV, and ESPN Deportes. New sponsors this year included Eclipse Marketing, Avail TVN and Comcast Media Center.

The focus of the Summit was on the ways the Hispanic TV industry earns its money through advertising, subscriptions, transactions, and TV rights or syndication fees.

A standing-room-only crowd assembled to hear about the growth of Hispanic advertising from TV icon Mario Kreutzberger, better known as "Don Francisco" to millions of Univision viewers of Sabado Gigante, (the world's longest-running variety TV show). In prior years, the award has gone to news anchor, Jorge Ramos; internationally-renowned talk show personality, Cristina Saralegui; TV personality, Maria Celeste Arraras; sports caster Andres Cantor; and TV legend, Mario Kreutzberger aka "Don Francisco."

September 23 and 24 were officially proclaimed to be "Hispanic Television Summit Days in New York" by NYC Mayor, Michael Bloomberg. The presentation of the proclamation was by Carlos Manzano, the Executive Director of the NYC Commission for Latin Media & Entertainment.

The agenda featured an A-List of the advertising industry's brightest stars including Alain Groenendaal, President and CEO of wing; Jessica Pantanini, COO of Bromley Communications; Danielle Gonzales, Managing Director of Tapestry; Jorge Moya, COO of MGSCOMM; and communications services executive, Christine Clavijo-Kish, SVP at PR Newswire.
