NYC & Company Spotlights Harlem on WNBC'S News 4 You

- The NYC Visit News Segment Highlights Top Attractions in Historic Neighborhood During Harlem Week -

NEW YORK, Aug. 6 /PRNewswire/ -- WNBC's Lynda Baquero and Tiffany Townsend of NYC & Company, New York City's official marketing and tourism organization, explored the historic neighborhood of Harlem on the NYC Visit segment that aired Friday, August 3. NYC Visit, which airs during WNBC's News 4 You, highlighted top activities and also celebrated Harlem Week, which runs through September 10.

"Harlem Week gives residents and visitors alike just one more reason to visit Harlem. It's one of New York City's-and the nation's-most well-known neighborhoods," said Townsend. "Harlem has a rich history and has also experienced a rebirth in recent years. Today it's a destination that offers so much to see and do."

The NYC Visit segment featured four Harlem activities that appeal to people of all ages and interests. The locations chosen included the Museum of the City of New York, fashion boutique N Harlem New York, bowling center Harlem Lanes and the Harlem Summerstage concert series.

"There are so many activities taking place in Harlem," said host Lynda Baquero. "Visitors can attend concerts and art exhibits as well as events related to fashion, sports, health and education. Many local businesses and organizations are also offering discounts and other promotions during Harlem Week."

Harlem Week began as a one-day tribute in 1974 and has since expanded into a multi-week festival. This year's Harlem Week began Wednesday, July 18 and will run through Monday, September 10.

The Museum of the City of New York, located in East Harlem, recently opened The Glory Days: New York Baseball 1947-1957, which runs through December. Glory Days documents the history of the golden era of baseball in New York City. The exhibit includes photography, film, and historic artifacts from all of the City's teams from the period, including, the New York Yankees, Brooklyn Dodgers and New York Giants.

N Harlem New York is a lifestyle boutique that brings together emerging and established clothing designers, as well as home accessories at their 116th Street location. Shoppers will find clothing from world-renowned designers such as Hugo Boss and Nicole Miller along with emerging design talents like B. Oyama and Byron Lars. Jonathan Adler and Marimekko home design products are also a store staple.

Harlem Lanes offers two-floors of state-of-the-art bowling with options for both kids and adults. The location can host children's parties in kid-friendly party rooms and also has a stylish lounge furnished with plush sofas and flat-screen TVs. "Extreme bowling," or glow-in-the-dark bowling, is offered on both floors. Harlem Lanes is located on 126th Street and Adam Clayton Powell Jr. Boulevard.

Harlem Summerstage, which runs through September 6, offers free music performances every Thursday on the plaza outside the Adam Clayton Powell Jr. State Office Building. Presented by the legendary Apollo Theater, all the concerts are free to the public; music acts vary from Jazz to Gospel to R&B and many more.
