Royal Caribbean Cruises Ltd. Again Makes Computerworld Survey of Top 100 Best Places to Work in IT

MIAMI, July 12 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Royal Caribbean Cruises Ltd. announced today that it has again been named one of the "Best Places to Work in Information Technology" by IDG's Computerworld magazine.

This marks the fifth time in the past six years that the company has been ranked among the top 100 work environments for technology professionals. Royal Caribbean ranked first in the survey's Tour and Travel category and 16th overall for 2005.

Now in its 12th year, the Computerworld survey ranks the 100 best places to work based on extensive company questionnaires regarding benefits, diversity, career development, training and retention. More than 20,000 IT professionals also were interviewed for the survey, and their responses factored heavily in determining the rankings.

"Royal Caribbean offers IT professionals a fast-paced and challenging environment where they can use their existing skills, develop new ones, and enjoy significant professional and personal growth," said Mike Sutten, chief information officer for Royal Caribbean Cruises Ltd. "We continue to invest in our IT infrastructure and the people who maintain it to ensure that we provide the most positive experiences possible for the 3.5 million guests who sail with us each year."

This year's survey cited Royal Caribbean for the broad diversity of its IT workforce; its innovative leadership development program, LEAD-IT; training initiatives; focus on continuous improvement; and employee cruise benefits.

"This year's Best Places to Work rankings represent companies across the industry that recognize how a strong commitment to and investment in employees is synonymous with creating a great IT work environment," said Don Tennant, Computerworld's editor-in-chief. "Once again, we found that IT professionals are looking for rewarding and challenging projects, access to leading-edge technologies, career growth and development, and a comfortable work/life balance. Our Best Places companies not only offer these benefits, but do so in a manner that goes well-above industry norms."
