emuse's Modelstream(R) Proves Yet Again That It Is the Tool of Choice Across All Platforms Including OCAP

emuse's Modelstream(R) Proves Yet Again That It Is the Tool of Choice Across All Platforms Including OCAP

LOS ANGELES, June 8 /PRNewswire/ -- emuse technologies, the creator of Modelstream(R), the world's leading multiplatform interactive television (iTV) application and deployment software, and acknowledged leader in successfully building and deploying single-screened interactive advertisements (iADs), announces that the company has successfully completed the latest phase in the development of Modelstream's OCAP capabilities at the recent OCAP Interoperability Event hosted by CableLabs(R).

As part of the company's commitment to multi-platform deployment, emuse took a sophisticated application already deployed in the UK and generated the same application for play out on the OCAP platform at the Interoperability Event Workshop. The exercise was designed to test the various user interface functionalities commonly found in iTV applications, such as iAds.

In using Modelstream(R) to design the applications emuse relied heavily upon its vast experience of designing and deploying iAD applications in the United Kingdom. The multi-functional application was then played on a number of different OCAP set-top boxes and interactive digital televisions connected to the cable network. The OCAP Interoperability Workshops are designed to provide an environment where OCAP developers can test middleware implementations, applications, authoring tools, and play out systems. This collaborative environment fosters crucial information exchange, highly valuable to the increasing development of the OCAP community and ideal for emuse to demonstrate the latest developments to Modelstream(R).

"Following on from last year's event where we tested a basic OCAP authored application we decided to offer participants a 'real world' type application that represented the kind of work we are commercially asked to deploy on a daily basis," commented John Bryan, Director of Operations/North America, "We are committed to developing our OCAP capabilities, and see this type of event and the opportunities it provides as crucial in defining the way we empower advertising agencies and brands to exploit single screen iTV on cable."

About OCAP(TM)

The OpenCable Applications Platform specification is a middleware software layer specification. OCAP(TM) is intended to enable the developers of interactive television services and applications to design such products so that they will run successfully on any cable television system in North America, independent of set-top or television receiver hardware or operating system software choices. OCAP(TM) enables manufacturers and retail distributors of set-tops, television receivers or other devices to build and to sell attractive and capable devices to consumers that will support all services delivered by cable operators to devices currently available to consumers via lease from cable operators. The issued OCAP(TM) 1.0 specification was released in December 2001 and was followed by OCAP(TM) 2.0 in April 2002.
