- Advanced Compression Encoding Flexible, versatile MPEG-2/AVC (MPEG-4 part 10/H.264) encoder (Model D9154(TM)) delivers advanced signal processing for unsurpassed video quality and optimal bandwidth savings. Simulcasts contribution content in MPEG-2 and MPEG-4 from a single device for added flexibility. The D9154 will also be on display in the AVC booth SL4101. A future- friendly VC1 migration path in Scientific-Atlanta encoding products opens the way for expanding the company's advanced compression coding platform.
- Distributed Storage Adding storage at downlink sites using our new Network Receiver (Model D9838(TM)), currently scheduled for commercial availability in Q4 CY2005, will help support applications such as on-demand distance learning, corporate communications across various time zones, digital signage, content regionalization for analog headend and much more.
- HDTV MPEG-2 Encoder for Broadcast Applications The right choice for many content owners, broadcasters and operators, the Model D9050(TM) encoder delivers the latest and most efficient MPEG-2 compression for HD video encoding. Scientific-Atlanta's second generation HD encoder provides multiple benefits in multi-channel encoding systems via efficient statistical multiplex performance.
- IPTV Solutions End-to-end IP streaming solutions combining broadcast, xOD and interactive multimedia services for cable and telco over any access network - from H.264 encoding available today to a line of IP set-top boxes, which will support H.264 and VC1, coming soon.
- DVR with DVD Read/Write The MCP-100 Media Center, the latest in dual-tuner digital video recording capabilities, will give TV viewers the ability to securely archive their favorite content, including HD programming, to DVD. The MCP-100 Media Center is currently expected to be available in Q4 CY2005.
- Retriever(TM) software system This set-top diagnostics and viewership system can meet the growing demand from cable operators for improved insight into their customers' viewership habits and proactive monitoring of set-top and network performance at the TV set.
- Multiple Decryption Receiver for Content Distribution to Digital Tier With its blend of small size and big performance, the new Model D9828(TM) MDR packs the ability for 16-program decryption, plus digital program mapping to support dynamic content delivery to the digital cable tier, into a 1RU configuration.
- PowerVu(R) Network Centre Versions 5.5 and 6.0 The newest releases of the PNC include disaster recovery, data replication, D9050 HD encoder control, SD stat mux control and expanded alarm options.
- Headend Encoding An especially powerful, bandwidth optimization solution is delivered by Scientific-Atlanta's Dual Pass Encoder (Model D9032(TM)). Dual pass encoding, combined with closed loop statistical multiplexing and the management capabilities of Scientific-Atlanta's Regulus(TM) statistical multiplex controller can help operators include more than ten channels in the 38.8 Mbps video stream that a 256 QAM delivers. A powerful solution for all types of headends - cable, telco, DTH, or DVB. Scientific-Atlanta continues to offer the entry-level Model D9020(TM) encoder.
- Encoding for Digital Radio Services The versatile options supported by Scientific-Atlanta's family of encoders also includes delivery of digital radio signals using the Model D9155(TM) encoding system.

Dwight B. Duke Corporate Senior Vice President and President, Transmission Network Systems
As a corporate officer at Scientific-Atlanta, Dwight Duke serves as president of Transmission Network Systems. He is also a member of both the corporate management and corporate operating committees which develop and implement strategic direction.
His broad area of responsibility includes business units that enable programmers, service providers and cable operators to deliver broadband services to consumers. In addition, he is responsible for expanding e- business programs that simplify and accelerate customers' ability to conduct business with the company.
Duke joined Scientific-Atlanta in 1978 and served in operations management, distribution and headend products for CATV, followed by positions in product and major program management in the Broadband Communications group. He was vice president of strategic operations of the Network Systems Group followed by responsibility for the company's Digital Video System business. In the fall of 1993, Duke was appointed vice president of International Satellite Systems Business and became president of the Satellite Television Network Division (now Media Networks) the next year. He was named an officer in the company in 1996 and became president of Transmission Network Systems in 1997.
Duke was inducted into the National Cable and Telecommunications Association (NCTA) Cable TV Pioneers in 2003. He is a strong advocate for the Junior Achievement program and serves on its Board of Directors. A native of Augusta, Georgia, he is a graduate of Georgia Southern University where he received his B.S. in Industrial Management in 1974.
Paul Kosac Vice President of Market Development Media Networks/Headend Transmission Network Systems
Paul Kosac is vice president of market development for Scientific- Atlanta's Media Networks and Headend businesses. Additionally, he has responsibility for Media Networks sales in North America and works closely with international regions to promote media networks and broadcast products. These products include the PowerVu(R) digital compression system and Continuum(R) headend products that support a variety of applications to enable programmers, broadcasters and cable operators to maximize their use of bandwidth, offer additional channels of programming and roll out new services.
Kosac has over 20 years experience in the cable and satellite industry. Prior to his return to Scientific-Atlanta in 2003, Kosac served as the vice president of digital services worldwide for PanAmSat, where his primary responsibilities included managing, creating and implementing new digital video products and services.
Previously, Kosac was with Scientific-Atlanta for more than sixteen years, holding product marketing and sales positions in both the cable television and satellite video systems business units. Preceding his departure, he was vice president of sales - worldwide for the Media Networks business and played a significant role in the rollout of the PowerVu system. Currently, more than 400 Scientific-Atlanta PowerVu digital video compression systems are transmitting over 2,000 channels of digital programming.
