President's Job Ratings Fall to Lowest Point of His Presidency
According to Harris Interactive, the last month has not been a good one for President Bush and the Republicans. Most people have opposed the President's proposals for reforming Social Security and most were unhappy with the positions taken by Republicans in the Terri Schiavo case. The result is that the president's job ratings have fallen to 44 percent positive, 56 percent negative, the worst numbers of his presidency, and a drop from 48 percent positive, 51 percent negative in February (and 50 percent positive, 49 percent negative last November).

One in Five U.S. Workers Reports Racial and Gender Discrimination Exists in the Workplace
One out of five U-S workers claims that racial or ethnic discrimination exists in the workplace, according to a national survey by Hudson, reporting that they know of someone who has been denied a job, increased pay or promotion because of their ethnicity. That figure jumps to 31 percent for African-American workers, yet drops to 18 percent among white employees. Further, nearly one out of four workers reports that they know someone who has been adversely affected at work because of their gender. While women are more likely than men to make this gender discrimination claim, African-American workers are more inclined to state this than women or other employee segments. Additionally, almost one-quarter of employees polled report that they work for firms that do not actively promote diversity, with another 13 percent not sure if their firm has a formal diversity program.

Rosy Job Outlook for 2005 Graduates, Says CollegeJournal.com
After several dismal years, 2005 is expected to see the first growth in job opportunities for new college graduates since 2000, says CollegeJournal.com, The Wall Street Journal's guide for career-minded college students.
More than half of the employers surveyed by the Collegiate Employment Research Institute stated that the market was good for college labor, with 47 percent of the respondents reporting that they will definitely hire new college graduates in 2005 -- an 11 percent increase from two years ago.

Survey Finds Ten Percent of Americans Know a Tax Cheat Reports Greenfield Online, Inc.
In a national survey conducted on behalf of USA TODAY, regarding attitudes and behaviors related to paying taxes, 10 percent of adults said they personally know someone who cheats on taxes. But the majority of respondents -- 74 percent -- indicated they do not know anyone who cheats on their taxes. Respondents split evenly on personalized social security accounts, arguably the hottest current social policy issue relating to taxes.
