Hop-on To Introduce 3 New CDMA Phone Models Based on Successful GSM Form Factors
IRVINE, Calif., April 7 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Hop-on today announced that it will introduce 3 new CDMA handsets that will utilize similar plastic housings as the successful designs for its GSM Models 1806 and 1893. Hop-on's CDMA models 1926 and 1927 will resemble the look of the GSM Model 1806 and the new CDMA model 1993 will be visually similar to the GSM Model 1893. These new handsets will utilize CDMA2000 technology (as was used in its CDMA Model 1906) and are expected to be completed in approximately 90 days.
CDMA Models 1926 and 1927 are tri-mode handsets that will operate on the 800 MHz (AMPS & CDMA) and 1900 MHz (CDMA) frequencies. The primary difference between the two models is that the 1926 will have a colored display (black and white LCD screen with a colored wallpaper background) while the Model 1927 will have a 65K color screen. Therefore, while Model 1926 will have the appearance of a color screen, it will be a less expensive alternative since the customer is not incurring the cost for a color screen. For those customers desiring a color screen, Model 1927 is an ideal affordable alternative with an external design that has already received consumer acceptance in the market.
Hop-on's Model 1993 is a CDMA handset with a MP3 player, camera and video recorder. Based on the external housing of its GSM Model 1893, the CDMA Model 1993 is tri-mode handset that will operate on the 800 MHz (AMPS & CDMA) and 1900 MHz (CDMA) frequencies. Features will include a MP3 player, 300K VGA camera, Mpeg 4 video recorder, a 65K color display screen, GPS, 64 polyphonic ring tones, predictive text input, SMS messaging, vibration call alert and 128 Mb of flash memory.
Dan Gannon, Chief Executive Officer of Hop-on commented, "We are very excited about introducing these CDMA versions of two of our most successful GSM designs. Up until now, we have had a limited number of CDMA phone designs to show customers and this really helps us round out our product line. In addition, based on the consumer acceptance of these great looking designs and the affordable price points for these CDMA phones, we look forward to showing these to customers in our target markets of North America, South America, Africa and Asia."
