Geller Media Joins Podcasting to Nanocasting Alliance

Geller Media Joins Podcasting to Nanocasting Alliance

Joint Effort Will Apply Proven Broadcast Fundamentals to Podcasting and Internet Radio

LOS ANGELES, April 19 /PRNewswire/ -- Guerrilla Marketing International (http://www.gmarketing.com/) and Jackstreet Media announced today a deal struck with Geller Media International to develop a road map for creating commercially viable Internet radio and podcast programming based on proven broadcast fundamentals. The initiative is part of the Podcasting to Nanocasting Alliance's five city conference aimed at commercializing podcasting. The conference is being held in conjunction with Guerrilla Marketing Business University Tour. The goal is to provide serious guerrilla media entrepreneurs who are making the transition from non-profit Podcasting to commercial Nanocasting, the "media fundamentals" needed to produce compelling, marketable Internet radio programming.

Nanocasting is commercial Podcasting and at the moment the Podcasting phenomenon has virtually no barriers to entry. "Almost anyone can start a radio station in their garage, get on the air and produce great 'sounding' shows. But it's media and marketing expertise, among other things, that will separate the non-profits from the for-profit ventures, the serious media entrepreneurs from the hobbyists, and the Podcasters from the Nanocasters," said Jay Conrad Levinson of Guerrilla Marketing International.

Valerie Geller is president of Geller Media International, a broadcast consulting firm working with news, talk, information and personality programming for radio and television throughout the world. Geller brings to The Alliance more than 30 years of broadcast experience, including all radio formats from adult contemporary, top 40 CHR, to country and news/talk. Geller ran the news department at KIOI/San Francisco, presented talk radio programs from Tampa Bay to Los Angeles and setup news/talk formats at a number of major stations including KFI in Los Angeles and WABC in New York. She began her career as a radio journalist, a field in which she has won several awards. She worked as a talk show host, anchor and reporter for KOA/Denver, KTAR/Phoenix, KOST and KRTH/Los Angeles, as well as three national American radio networks. She was elected to the board of directors of the Associated Press Broadcasters, and held a board seat for the Radio Television News Directors Association in California. Geller has also written about radio for Billboard Magazine, Radio & Records, The M Street Journal and Music and Media.

"Because everyone can talk fairly easily, many believe broadcasting via the web must be easy. But here is the trick: The great ones just make it LOOK easy, like any great athlete, actor, dancer or singer, most professionals have had years of training, learning proven techniques before finding their own voice," said Geller.

The aim of the "Moving from Podcasting to Nanocasting" conference is to bring together the knowledge, insights and techniques needed to create sustainable Internet radio business models. "Most Podcasting today is vanity radio. At the end the day, the profits will go to the media entrepreneurs who understand media basics, like how to get and keep audiences and how to deliver what people want to listen to. Broadcasting professionals already know much of what podcasters will have to learn to become profitable Nanocasters," said Errol Smith, Director of Guerrilla Marketing Radio and founder of Jackstreet Media. "Those who venture into commercial Internet radio without understanding media basics may find that they have wasted a lot of time and money," said Smith.

The basics of creating powerful Internet radio is one of the subjects that will be discussed during the conferences. Dates and locations are as follows:

LAS VEGAS --- SEPT 7, 8, 9 VANCOUVER --- SEPT 21, 22, 23 SAN FRANCISCO --- OCTOBER 5, 6, 7 NEW ORLEANS --- NOV 9, 10, 11 ORLANDO --- JAN 18, 19, 20 (2006)
