ATLANTA, April 19 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- NAB 2005 - Booth #SU7848 -- Turner Broadcasting System (TBS) International, Inc. has selected a Scientific-Atlanta(R) MPEG-2 digital encoding platform to replace its existing digital equipment for distribution of Turner programming in Europe.
Two Scientific-Atlanta encoding systems will be installed in London using D9030(TM) encoders with PreSightPlus(TM) pre-processing technology and Regulus(TM) closed-loop statistical multiplexing which help deliver high picture quality at bandwidth-saving low bit rates. TBS International will use Scientific-Atlanta's ROSA(TM) system for management and control of the two encoding systems.
"Capabilities in this system are typical of our innovative approach to content distribution which includes the support for a wide range of applications including contribution, headend, DTH playout and DVB-T transmissions," said Paul Kosac, vice president of market development, Media Networks/Headend, Transmission Network Systems at Scientific-Atlanta. "In addition, our flexible approach to supporting multiple conditional access technologies and the versatility of the ROSA management and control system provide operators with the options needed to operate today and to react to changes in the transmission environment in the future."
