Within 90 days of signing a contract with Coremetrics, Home Decor Products was up and running on all three Web sites and had implemented minor navigational changes to the HomeClick.com shopping cart that resulted in a significant increase in revenues. All three of Home Decor Products' Web sites are growing rapidly and the company is projected to increase revenue by 50% over 2004. As Home Decor Products' online business grew, they quickly discovered their existing Web analytics tool could not meet their growing needs. They discovered the primary reason for this was that the navigation cues were slightly confusing. For example, when a shopper wanted to change quantities or delete an item from the cart, they were told to press the "update cart" button. However, the actual button said "update changes". They also found that the account information page where shoppers are asked to enter billing information didn't prominently display a link about HomeClick.com's security and privacy policies. The security link was under the fold where some shoppers couldn't easily find it and as a result, they were abandoning their orders. Results After making several minor navigational changes to the shopping cart checkout process, including changing the update cart button so it was consistent with the instructions and moving the security link above the fold, HomeClick.com saw their checkout completion rate increase by 2.6%. This improvement represents an annualized revenue increase of nearly $1 million dollars.
