Academy Award Nominee Peter Falk Leads the Way for 'Retirement' Signs as Lead Character in Comedy Film Directed by Charlie Picerni SHERMAN OAKS, Calif., Jan. 19 /PRNewswire/ -- Academy award nominee and Emmy and Tony award winner Peter Falk (Columbo, Princess Bride, The In-Laws, Shark Tale) will star in Corner Stone Pictures' comedy "Retirement." Falk is cast to play "Fitzy," the main character in the film, whose daughter leads four curmudgeonly old men on a road trip to stop her from marrying the wrong guy. Principle photography begins in Florida's South Beach on February 1st 2005. "What Peter Falk brings to the role of "Fitzy" is his own inimitable brand of subtle humor," said director Charlie Picerni. "We are very excited to be working with Peter on this film for many reasons. But I think that after he read the script, and we met, we all had this feeling that it was made for him." Also, signing this week is accomplished comic Charlie Murphy (The Dave Chappelle Show, Jungle Fever), who has been tapped to play the part of "Andre," the cunning detective that saves the day. Additionally, veteran actor Reginald VelJohnson (Family Matters, Die Hard, Die Hard 2) just agreed to play the part of the lawyer "Johnny" who comes to the defense of the main characters in the film.
