BAM Education Radio Network Launches PULSE to Support Host-Produced Programming

Macmillan's Quick and Dirty Series to Anchor the New Channel

LOS ANGELES, June 17, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- Today, BAM Radio Network (BRN), the all-education radio network, announced the launch of PULSE, a new platform created to serve educators' growing interest in online radio. The site will allow producers of education-related radio shows and podcasts to access BRN's global community of educators, who use internet radio for professional development, project-based learning, community building, outreach, brand building, parental engagement, and adding their voices to the international education discussion. The new platform is anchored by several well-established shows, including: Eric Sheninger's Guide to Digital Leadership; Vicki Davis' Every Classroom Matters; Concordia's Edtech show; Don Wetrick's ImmovatED; and Macmillan's Quick and Dirty series, featuring Grammar Girl, Math Dude and Everyday Einstein.

"We're extremely excited to work alongside BAM Radio during the launch of PULSE," said Kathy Doyle, Director of the Quick and Dirty Tips network at Macmillan. "This is a wonderful opportunity for our credible, education-focused hosts to reach BAM's audience, helping PULSE to engage educators and listeners worldwide."

PULSE was designed to be a springboard for new shows, a channel to pilot new programs. and a laboratory for experimenting with new education radio formats. It is an extension of the well-established BAM Radio Network, which has been producing and hosting radio programs for leading national education associations since 2003. Education organizations with shows on BRN include: the National Association of Elementary School Principals; the American Association of School Administrators; The National PTA; the National Association for the Education of Young Children; the National Association of School Nurses and Discovery Educator Network, to name a few. The network also hosts shows for self-organizing online communities of connected educators, including the #SATChat, #Edchat, #PTChat and #Edtechchat.

"We have been innovating with Internet radio in education for almost a decade, and through our collaborations with the nation's leading education associations, we have helped pioneer the category," said Errol St. Clair Smith, executive producer of BAM Radio Network. "We can say from experience that we've only begun to realize the possibilities for educators, and we are thrilled to work with such an extraordinary group who are demonstrating what can be achieved with this technology through PULSE."

Still in Beta, the PULSE site has already surfaced several new shows that have found an audience on the network. This fall, BRN will spotlight several new shows that are currently being developed on the PULSE platform.
