Made In Hollywood Awards Continues Its Best-Movie-Winning Ways With "Behind The Candelabra" Emmy

Made In Hollywood Awards Continues Its Best-Movie-Winning Ways With "Behind The Candelabra" Emmy

HOLLYWOOD, Calif., Sept. 25, 2013 /PRNewswire/ -- For the third time in little over a year-and-a-half, a winner of the Made In Hollywood Award has gone on to win the Best Feature Film Oscar or its Emmy equivalent, Outstanding Mini-Series or Movie, thanks to the victory of "Behind The Candelabra" in the latter category this past Sunday. As a result, 1600 Vine, permanent home of the Made In Hollywood Award presentation ceremonies will install a hall of fame on its Heart of Hollywood Terrace to commemorate those double winners and their future counterparts.

With its commanding view of all of Hollywood, 1600 Vine was the natural presentation site for the new award program which quickly became the most accurate prognosticator of the town's best film Oscar and Emmy winners. In January of 2012, the LA city council initiated the presentation of the Made In Hollywood Awards to locally-produced shows which are Oscar nominated. The winners of the first two Made In Hollywood awards won the last two Oscars, "The Artist" in 2012 and "Argo" earlier this year. HBO's "Behind The Candelabra" continued the tradition Sunday in the first instance of the Made In Hollywood Awards' being extended to Emmy nominated programs made here.

Other winners of the first Made In Hollywood Television Awards to capture the Emmy as well include "Modern Family" in the category of Outstanding Comedy Series and "The Voice" in the category of Outstanding Reality-Competition Program.

"The Made In Hollywood Awards were conceived to help return production to the place where great mass entertainment began," stated Los Angeles City Councilman Tom Labonge, creator of the honors. 1600 Vine, he points out, stands on the site of the historic Hollywood Brown Derby. The next Made In Hollywood Awards, relating to Oscar nominations for the current year, will be presented there in January 2014.
