Fundacion Azteca America Presents Immigration Editorial to Air on Azteca America Network as Part of Multi-Media Support for Comprehensive Immigration Reform
Primary Message Emphasizes the Need for Nonpartisan Cooperation to Develop Viable Legislation and Builds on Ongoing "I too am America" Campaign
LOS ANGELES, July 20 /PRNewswire/ -- Grupo Salinas and Fundacion Azteca America are pleased to launch the latest phase of its multi-media campaign to support comprehensive immigration reform.
Featuring top Azteca talent, the editorial transmits the importance of comprehensive immigration in a dynamic 90 second spot that will be aired at regular intervals beginning in mid-July The editorial highlights legislation sponsored by Senators Harry Reid, Chuck Schumer, Bob Menendez, Diane Feinstein and Dick Durbin as a step forward, although it also addresses the need for Republican support.
"We can't afford to fail to act on comprehensive immigration reform as it will strengthen our nation's security and economy," said Senator Reid. "We can work on immigration this year, but it will require an unwavering commitment from the White House and the entire Congress. I am very encouraged by Fundacion Azteca America and Grupo Salinas' commitment to informing the community on this very important issue to our nation."
The editorial builds on a year-long multi-media campaign called "I too am America" that includes a series of public service announcements, a white paper written by the University of Denver's Center for Community Engagement and Scholarship entitled: "The State of Latinos: Immigration," informational brochures distributed by Azteca America affiliated television stations in over 70 cities through the country, and a series of forums, including one this spring at Georgetown University, addressing the issue with top policy makers and community leaders. The Georgetown forum included an opening address by Grupo Salinas Founder and Chairman Ricardo B. Salinas.
"The concept of this editorial is to speak directly to our viewers about this crucial legislation," said Luis J. Echarte, Chairman of Fundacion Azteca America and Azteca America Network. "Comprehensive immigration is an important step forward to improve the lives of millions of Latinos and make them part of the American Dream."
