Univision Communications Inc. Honors Ray Rodriguez by Dedicating Network Building

MIAMI, Nov. 19 /PRNewswire/ -- Univision Communications Inc., the premier Spanish-language media company in the United States, announced today the dedication of the building that is home to network operations in Miami to former president and chief operating officer Ray Rodriguez. In a ceremony which took place today at 2pm in front of the Univision building, Joe Uva, president and CEO of Univision Communications Inc., and Cesar Conde, president of the Univision Networks, presented Rodriguez with a commemorative plaque and named the building the "The Ray Rodriguez Broadcasting Center."

During the ceremony, Uva read a proclamation issued by Miami-Dade County Mayor Carlos Alvarez declaring this day in honor of Rodriguez. The City of Doral Vice Mayor Robert Van Name was also present to read a proclamation issued by Mayor Juan Carlos Bermudez in recognition of Rodriguez's lasting legacy. The ceremony was attended by various dignitaries, community and industry leaders, among them Gloria Estefan, as well as many Univision executives and employees.

"The dedication of the building is a fitting way to not only acknowledge but celebrate Ray Rodriguez's nearly 20 years with Univision and the lasting mark he has left on the media industry and in the Miami business community," said Uva.

"I am immensely honored and would like to thank Joe, Cesar and the entire Univision family for this dedication," said Rodriguez. "Univision is a place I have called home for the past 20 years and one full of lasting memories. Thank you all for being part of this amazing and unforgettable journey."

This tribute comes after Rodriguez announced his retirement in August of this year. He joined Univision in 1990, and as a pioneer in Spanish-language media, he was largely responsible for positioning Univision at the forefront of the industry. During his tenure, he served as the senior vice president and operating manager of the Univision Network, and subsequently as president of the Univision, TeleFutura and Galavision Networks, and most recently as president and chief operating officer of Univision Communications Inc. Rodriguez leaves a highly regarded legacy, including the #1 and #2 television stations in the nation and the often fourth-ranked network in the country, regardless of language.
