'Kimchikhan': The World's First Movie About Kimchi Comes to Hollywood

'Kimchikhan': The World's First Movie About Kimchi Comes to Hollywood

LOS ANGELES, May 11 /PRNewswire/ -- The world's first movie about kimchi, "Kimchikhan," is currently in production. From Los Angeles to Victorville, new kimchi steaks, kimchi chicken quesadilla, kimchi pasta, kimchi ice cream, kimchi tacos, among other dishes, were created without the use of sugars, standard salts and butter. Instead, they were made with natural ingredients like kimchi and its sauce as a base to develop the sixth taste bud.

A unique hybrid of documentary and informative travel excursion, "Kimchikhan" aims to reveal the healthiest and tastiest cooking secrets in the search for the sixth taste bud! A fascinating story of health and the quest for longevity, the documentary transports us on an eye-opening trip to South Korea in hopes to change the basis of the food essentials we consume everyday.

Director Steve Shin's natural approach and love for kimchi has inspired innovative dishes with the collaboration with a top chef. They have created their fusion dishes with various cuisines including Italian, Mexican, American and European. The documentary produces interviews with professionals and food connoisseurs, including a professor of preventive medicine, a Vietnam War veteran, a Korean restaurants representative, and key figures who share insight around the history and functions of kimchi.

The documentary addresses incorrect notions of kimchi being spicy or salty by redefining and learning about what kimchi really is as well as other organic foods and more importantly, slow foods. Innovative and delicious creations such as kimchi mini pancakes, tomato kimchi and kimchi tofu muffin are made in the process as we learn about essential and basic ingredients like good and harmful salts and using them to create foods like these mentioned in a new way. Natural foods and ingredients are used in its form without being processed or enhanced. Slow foods that are produced through fermentation are the secret to many of these foods. On May 28, 2009, the "Kimchikhan" team will unveil its new 31-item menu with tasters and the media at the Korea House in Seoul.

Now the search continues as the production takes a step further to make discoveries overseas in Korea and Japan. Select scenes will be converted to Stereoscopic 3D by Hollywood's top converting studio Stereo Pictures.
