Cox Communications Tops DPUC's 2008 Consumer Scorecard

Cox Communications Tops DPUC's 2008 Consumer Scorecard

Broadband Communications Company Ranks First Among Phone Providers Statewide and Second for Cable TV

MANCHESTER, Conn., March 6 /PRNewswire/ -- In the 2008 Consumer Scorecard issued this week by the Connecticut Department of Public Utility Control, Cox Communications ranked highest among all telephone providers in the State for its Cox Digital Telephone service. The company also ranked second among all cable TV providers in the State.

"In today's competitive telecommunications marketplace, consumers want to do business with companies that treat them well. Cox employees work hard to earn our customers' trust every single day," said Paul Cronin, senior vice president and general manager. "Cox's place at the top of the 2008 Consumer Scorecard is a validation of our employees' commitment to a consistently superior customer experience."

The Consumer Scorecard ranks 40 of Connecticut's utility and communications companies: three gas companies, two electric companies, nine telecommunications companies, 23 cable franchises and three of Connecticut's largest regulated water companies.

The Department received a mere 10 complaints regarding Cox Digital Telephone in 2008, reflecting 0.01 percent of its customers. Cox improved its score among phone providers by 90 percent since 2001, the first year the DPUC issued this report. Notably, Cox increased the number of Cox Digital Telephone customers by more than 400 percent over that same time period.

In the cable TV category, Cox ranked second among cable TV providers in 2008, with 0.05 percent customers reporting complaints across the company's three Connecticut cable service areas.
