ActiveVideo Networks Launches Next Phase of ActiveVideo Deployment; Todd M. Nisbet to Lead Development of Advertising Products and Services

New Unit to Drive Ad Strategy for Service Bringing Web 2.0 Content and Interactivity to Television

SAN JOSE, Calif., July 15 /PRNewswire/ -- ActiveVideo Networks(TM), which provides solutions that infuse TV with Web content and interactivity, today announced the selection of a veteran interactive advertising and marketing executive to create and operate a new department that is dedicated to maximizing ActiveVideo(TM) opportunities for advertisers.

Todd M. Nisbet, who has been responsible for driving interactive initiatives for advertising agencies and marketing clients during a two-decade career, has joined ActiveVideo Networks as Senior Vice President, Strategic Relations. In his new position he will work with a full range of media entities -- including marketers, agencies, programming customers and managed and unmanaged network partners -- to launch the next phase of ActiveVideo deployment: targeted, actionable advertising and sponsorship opportunities that leverage the capabilities of the ActiveVideo platform.

"ActiveVideo's high levels of usage and the ability to deliver deeply personalized content to individual consumers hold clear value to the advertising industry for building brand awareness and driving transactions," said Ed Forman, executive vice president, products and services and chief strategy officer for ActiveVideo Networks. "Todd M. Nisbet's interactive expertise and his background with both clients and agencies will accelerate our creation of advertising models and strategies that help programmers, operators and CE manufacturers to monetize the ActiveVideo experience."

ActiveVideo allows viewers using standard remote controls to engage with Web content -- including user-generated content, social media, Web-based channels, games and other programming and applications -- in a high-quality, highly-responsive television environment, without the cost or complexity of integrating new devices into their home entertainment systems. ActiveVideo uniformly delivers programming as a single MPEG stream to Web-connected TVs, Blu-Ray players, video game consoles and other devices, as well as cable and IPTV set-top boxes.

"The one-to-one ability to deliver the right ad to the right viewer at the right time on television continues to be the ultimate goal for the advertising community," said Nisbet. "The models we are creating will help marketers to engage viewers in the living room using the same standards-based creation, targeting and distribution mechanisms that have spurred the growth of Web ads and commerce. Relevancy is the advertising backbone of the ActiveVideo platform. What we have deployed in the market today is proven to be better TV for everyone."

ActiveVideo improves the effectiveness of advertising on television by enabling advertisers to:

-- Invite deeper audience engagement with brands through the creation of rich advertising showcases;

-- Increase sales by facilitating immediate transactions through clicks on standard remote controls:

-- Increase campaign effectiveness by receiving and responding to accurate, real time audience measurement statistics;

-- Use existing Web creative and development processes; and

-- Create or modify content once for distribution to every set-top box and Web-connected television device.

ActiveVideo allows television viewing to be shaped by a wide range of entities, including traditional and Web-based programmers, local cable affiliates, consumer electronics companies, advertisers, social networks and even the audience itself. ActiveVideo immerses viewers in an engaging experience that combines Web video, casual gaming, Web 2.0 functionality and traditional television -- including today's widescreen, 16:9, Dolby-surround HD home entertainment environment.

Nisbet, who began his advertising career with The Interpublic Group and Young & Rubicam, has been directly responsible for the launches of 18 interactive businesses. His successes include the development and marketing of global products and brands for a variety of major entities, including The Walt Disney Company, Prudential, AT&T and IBM.

In his new position, Nisbet will be responsible for all aspects of nurturing ActiveVideo advertising, including introducing the capabilities and benefits of ActiveVideo to the advertising community and working with programmers and partners to structure effective advertising campaigns for the entire value-chain, including the consumer. In addition, he will serve as a liaison between the advertising community and ActiveVideo Networks' business development, engineering and programming departments. He will be based in New York City.

Nisbet holds a B.A. in Communications from the University of Southern California, and a Masters in Business Administration and Corporate Communications from Seton Hall University.
