Digital Freedom Campaign Takes It On The Road

Campaign Kicks Off Digital Freedom University on Nine Campuses this Fall

WASHINGTON, Oct. 9 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- The Digital Freedom Campaign, a coalition that promotes consumer rights in the digital age, announces the schedule for its fall campaign. The fall initiative, including Digital Freedom University, brings the message of fair use and digital freedom to students, artists and consumers at university campuses, music festivals and consumer events around the country.

"Building on the extraordinary success of our first year, its time to take the Digital Freedom Campaign on the road," Maura Corbett, a spokesperson for the Digital Freedom Campaign said. "By mobilizing our message and promoting innovation, creativity and consumer rights at events around the country, we are literally bringing the gospel of Digital Freedom to the public. We believe a well-informed public will make well-informed decisions about the future of copyright and digital freedom policies and practices that affect them everyday."

The following is the fall schedule for the Digital Freedom Campaign - including nine college events and the 2008 International Consumer Electronics Show (CES).

Digital Freedom University

"The Digital Freedom University initiative is the cornerstone of our educational outreach effort," Vijay Raghavan, the program's director said. The following is the schedule of Digital Freedom University events:

Each scheduled event will include a panel discussion, a question and answer segment for students and a live concert. The panels will consist of representatives from the content industry, the school faculty, a visiting musician and a Digital Freedom Campaign partner.

About Digital Freedom: Digital technology enables literally anyone and everyone to be a creator, an innovator or an artist- to produce music, to create cutting-edge videos and photos, and to share their creative work. Digital technology empowers individuals to enjoy these new works when, where, and how they want, and to participate in the artistic process. These are basic freedoms that must be protected and nurtured. The Digital Freedom campaign is dedicated to defending the rights of students, artists, innovators, and consumers to create and make lawful use of new technologies free of unreasonable government restrictions and without fear of costly and abusive lawsuits. www.digitalfreedom.org
