Integra5 Awarded U.S. Patent for TV Call Management Technology

Integra5 Awarded U.S. Patent for TV Call Management Technology

Extensive patent portfolio across six countries reinforces company's position as global technology leader in development and delivery of converged services

BURLINGTON, Mass., Oct. 9 /PRNewswire/ -- Integra5, the pioneer in blending quad play bundles into converged services for simultaneous delivery across TVs and PCs, today announced that the United States Patent and Trademark Office awarded the company a patent for "call management via television." This patent, US 7,277,445, protects Integra5's active call control and call screening on TV technology within both IPTV and cable networks.

Integra5's TV Caller ID application allows a subscriber to see who is calling, via a TV banner alert, before the phone even rings. The call screening and call management capabilities in Integra5's Converged Services Platform (i5 CSP) enable subscribers to forward an incoming call directly to voicemail, then listen to the live message on their TV speakers. Using the TV remote control, they can click to answer the call mid-message, continue listening or stop playback. This platform is network-based and requires no wiring changes or additional hardware within a consumer's home.

This latest patent enhances Integra5's already robust patent portfolio in the converged services space and reinforces the company's position as a global technology leader in blending triple and quad play bundles. Integra5 now holds 10 patents in countries including Australia, Canada, Germany, Great Britain, Israel and the United States. Additional patents are pending in the United States, as well as China, Japan and the European Union. Last month, Integra5 received an additional patent in Great Britain - GB 2431811, "Method for association between telephony and television network equipment." The patent protects Integra5's device association technology, which enables real-time communications and content notifications to be delivered from a network to selected TVs, PCs and other devices within a consumer's home.

With more than 13 deployments worldwide in networks passing millions of homes, the i5 CSP delivers innovative cross-platform applications that help service providers drive revenue growth, build subscriber loyalty and create competitive differentiation. In response to market demand for more advanced converged services, Integra5 has developed applications including TV/PC Caller ID, Message Waiting Indication to TV/PC, Customer Care Notifications to TV/PC and SMS to TV/PC -- where text messaging from a mobile phone sent to a landline number is then delivered to the subscriber's TV or PC. Subscribers can respond via the TV remote or PC mouse.

"Our latest patents are continued validation of the rich intellectual property portfolio we have amassed as a result of more than seven years of research and development to make converged services a reality," said Dr. Eyal Bartfeld, Integra5's co-founder and executive vice president of strategy and product management. "The broad range of patents we hold across numerous countries provides us with a global footprint to capitalize on the widespread demand for converged services by geographically diverse service providers."
