WEGENER Announces First IP Set Top Orders at TELECOM '05

LAS VEGAS, Oct. 25 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Wegener(R) Corporation (NASDAQ:WGNR), a leading provider of television, audio and data distribution networks worldwide, announces multiple orders for WEGENER's new IP set top, SMD 515.

Launching video services to high-speed Internet customers is part of a "triple play" strategy for telco operators to increase service offerings to subscribers. MPEG-4/h.264 is an advanced video compression scheme seen as a key enabler to drive large scale deployments of video services, such as multi- channel broadcasts, video-on-demand and HD programming.

WEGENER's streaming media decoder, SMD-515, supports MPEG-4/h.264 and MPEG-2 decoding. The IP set top fully supports both SD and HD video, optional PVR and rapid integration of 3rd party applications. WEGENER is exhibiting in booth 104 on the TELECOM '05 exhibit show floor.
