Fallen Firefighters Candlelight and Memorial Services Available ON DEMAND
OAKS, Pa., Oct. 13 /PRNewswire/ -- Comcast today announced that it has made the broadcasts from the 2005 Fallen Firefighter Candlelight and Memorial Services available to digital cable customers in its Eastern Division through its ON DEMAND service. Beginning immediately, firefighters and subscribers throughout Pennsylvania, New Jersey and Northern Delaware can view the broadcasts from the October 8 - 9 Fallen Firefighter Memorial Weekend in their entirety, free of charge. Comcast digital cable customers can find the programs under their ON DEMAND menus by going to Get Local/CN8 Originals/Specials. The programs will remain available through October 30, 2005.
"We have the unique ability to deliver programming through ON DEMAND that might otherwise not be available broadly," said Michael Doyle, president, Comcast Cable Eastern Division and founder, CN8, The Comcast Network. "We're honored to use this asset to pay further tribute to our nation's heroes and to ensure that their families, friends and fellow firefighters have the opportunity to watch these special ceremonies at their convenience and as often as they would like."
The Fallen Firefighter Memorial Weekend was sponsored by the United States Fire Administration with the assistance of production crews from WITF in Harrisburg, PA, which handled production for the two live broadcasts. A three-hour Luminary Service aired on October 8, followed by a special Fallen Firefighters Memorial Service on October 9. Both are available ON DEMAND in their entirety.
"This is the first time that these live events were made available to firefighters throughout the United States. On behalf of the surviving family members, and all firefighters, I would like to thank Comcast for making them available so firefighters and residents have an opportunity to view these national remembrance ceremonies," said Charlie Dickinson, Deputy U.S. Fire Administrator. "The ceremonies recognize those who gave their lives in service to their communities. We will never forget those whom have made the ultimate sacrifices for their fellow citizens."
