Angela Leaney is Named Senior Vice President, Brand Communications, Nickelodeon Digital Television
NEW YORK, Oct. 12 /PRNewswire/ -- Angela Leaney has been named Senior Vice President, Brand Communications, Nickelodeon Digital Television, it was announced today by Tom Ascheim, Executive Vice President, General Manager, Nickelodeon Digital Television.
Formerly Vice President, Brand Communications, NOGGIN / The N, Leaney will continue to oversee the branding, promotional creative and public affairs for both NOGGIN, the commercial-free educational network for preschoolers, and The N, the nighttime network for teens.
"Angela is a seasoned marketing executive whose creative vision and ingenuity have helped define and position our digital brands as emerging leaders in the television marketplace," said Ascheim. "We have won countless awards for her smart and creative approach and execution for both NOGGIN and The N."
Leaney began her career in 1990 at AMV.BBDO, the largest advertising agency in London, as an account executive and began to handle a variety of British packaged goods, retail, consumer durables, corporate image and travel accounts. By 1996 she was running accounts worth several million dollars a year and her responsibilities had grown to encompass TV, print, radio and outdoor advertising that ran across all major markets in Europe.
Leaney shifted gears in 1996 and moved from account management into strategic advertising planning and research. This involved focusing on when, how and why people buy goods and develop relationships with brands -- and how to change consumer attitudes and behavior towards brands in order to grow client business. She conducted research into what makes a man choose a particular brand of beer, on the semiotics of margarine, on how using fabric softener made mom feel about her family. Leaney marketed organ donor cards in the UK, fried chicken in Thailand and diapers in Spain.
Seeking new challenges, Leaney relocated to Los Angeles in 1999 to fill the new role of head of planning and research at Ogilvy & Mather where she worked on developing communications strategies and advertising for the toy, e- commerce and retail fields. Soon after, she was asked to go to New York to run a strategic positioning brainstorming for a new 24 hour kids thinking TV and online network called NOGGIN, fell in love with the brand and within three months was named Vice President of Consumer Marketing. During fall of 2000, Angela's responsibilities broadened to encompass public affairs and brand creative, where she began to oversee the branding and promotional creative on NOGGIN and The N.
