SILVER SPRING, Md., Sept. 7 /PRNewswire/ -- On Sunday, September 11, 2005, following the inspiring and powerful film THE FLIGHT THAT FOUGHT BACK, award- winning journalist Tom Brokaw will focus on the events of September 11, 2001, and where we are today as a nation. Brokaw will interview families of Flight 93 passengers to discuss their loved ones, their loss and their lives since that fateful day.

The program features an interview with George Clooney, who was one of the organizers for the telethon America: A Tribute to Heroes. Clooney speaks about how he was inspired to contribute to the national healing process after that devastating day. A performance of The Rising-the song Bruce Springsteen wrote to galvanize the country after 9/11, and one of the most memorable performances of the telethon-will also be featured.

Additional segments include interviews from Shanksville, Pa.-the site of Flight 93's crash-with residents who opened their hearts and homes for the grief-stricken families to help them begin the personal healing process. Also featured is an interview with State Trooper Ron Zona, who was one of the first on the scene, and who still escorts people to the crash site.

A memorial will soon be built at the crash site to honor the 40 passengers and crew of Flight 93. The program reveals the final design of the Flight 93 National Memorial.

THE FLIGHT THAT FOUGHT BACK is a powerful retelling of the plane's final moments-based on the best available evidence-as those on board fought to regain control of the aircraft. This dramatic film was developed with unprecedented cooperation from many family members and friends of those on board, and with help from United Airlines.

The special tribute anchored by Tom Brokaw and produced by NBC News Productions will air on Discovery Channel immediately following the premiere of THE FLIGHT THAT FOUGHT BACK on Sunday, September 11, 2005, at 9 PM (ET/PT).
