Peak Entertainment Builds on the Worldwide Rights to the Popular 1940's & 50's BBC Series 'Muffin the Mule'
New Animated Series Commissioned by the BBC Receives Unprecedented Launch Platform
NEW YORK, Sept. 7 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Peak Entertainment Holdings Inc., (BULLETIN BOARD: PKEH) , a fully integrated multimedia company dedicated to quality children's television entertainment, character licensing and consumer products, announced today that the British Broadcasting Company (BBC) has announced an unprecedented three times per day broadcast schedule from September 5th 2005 on the UK's leading terrestrial and satellite networks Cbeebies and CBBC (Children's BBC) for the new TV series, Muffin the Mule.
Muffin the Mule, based on the hugely popular BBC (British Broadcasting Company) series in the 1940's and 50's, is a new animated television series, which targets children between the ages of 2 and 5 years old. The series has been commissioned for broadcast by the BBC and is produced by Peak's strategic partner, UK A.I.M. listed Maverick Entertainment Plc.
Muffin the Mule has a place in British television history as the first ever TV character brand and the new show is a modern adaptation of the original concept. The producers have worked closely with the BBC to retain the same subject matter and core values of fun, friendship and loyalty, qualities that are as relevant and entertaining today as they were originally.
Muffin the Mule celebrates his 60th anniversary in 2006 and the activity planned to commemorate the first 'star' of British television will be a major factor in re-awakening parents' and grandparents' affinity with their childhood icon. This usually results in a whole new audience being introduced to the rich depth of characters associated with these unique classic brands. Further, the anticipated interest from retailers who continue to nurture the trend in consumer retro-brand confidence is expected to deliver a platform to establish an international classic brand proposition comparable to classic children's brands Thomas the Tank Engine or Noddy.
"Within the last few years, the consolidation of the entertainment industry has created a 'hunger' for classic children's programming; Muffin the Mule epitomizes this category," said Phil Ogden, Managing Director of Peak. "We are encouraged at the level of interest in this fantastic brand, and we could not be better positioned to capitalize on our initial licensing and merchandising program that has already been anchored by recent deals signed with leading toy company's Character Options Ltd and Martin Yaffee Ltd and publishers Maverick Entertainment Plc and Future Publishing Ltd with many more deals and potential partnerships currently nearing completion."
Mike Diprose, Chief Executive of Maverick Entertainment Plc, commented, "We are excited at the wonderful platform delivered to us by the BBC and, by utilizing Peak's fully integrated business model, its strengths in the US and internationally, we anticipate a great return for our investors. Early indications are that the concept has been very well received and we look forward to building on this with more projects in the future."
