NEW YORK, Sept. 7 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Graceland and American Idol are pitching in to help victims of Hurricane Katrina, Robert F.X. Sillerman, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of CKX, Inc. (NASDAQ:CKXE) announced today.
CKX will donate 100% of the net proceeds from Graceland, the Memphis home of the legendary Elvis Presley, collected on Saturday, Sept. 10, to aid the hurricane victims, Sillerman said. The American Idols tour will also add a show Sunday, Sept. 11th in Syracuse, N.Y. at the War Memorial in the OnCenter, with all net proceeds of that concert going to the victims as well.
In addition, Sillerman announced that CKX will match contributions made by its employees to the American Red Cross for hurricane relief. Sillerman made the first CKX donation, $100,000, and a total of more than $300,000 has already been collected.
All donations will be made to the American Red Cross.
