Reserve Your Seat Now; Salvation Army, WTAE-TV Channel 4 Slate Joe DeNardo Tribute
PITTSBURGH, Sept. 27 /PRNewswire/ -- There is still time to get a great seat and show your appreciation to a Pittsburgh legend, Joe DeNardo. Through his efforts in the creation and promotion of Project Bundle-Up, WTAE-TV Channel 4's Joe DeNardo has helped to ensure that for the last nineteen years, more than 167,000 people have not had to do without. Through this joint program with The Salvation Army and WTAE-TV Channel 4, Bundle-Up has been responsible for area residents feeling the warmth of new winter outerwear, in addition to the love of countless volunteers who help make the program happen.
In appreciation of DeNardo's efforts, The Salvation Army, WTAE-TV Channel 4, Highmark Blue Cross Blue Shield and the Pittsburgh Steelers are honored to announce "A Tribute to Joe DeNardo." Seats are still available for this black tie optional dinner, slated for Wednesday, October 19th at the downtown Pittsburgh Hilton and Towers. WTAE-TV Channel 4's own Bill Hillgrove will emcee the event and Al Dowe and Etta Cox will provide the entertainment. "Thanks to Joe's leadership and dedication, when winter's winds begin to blow, our children know that someone out there cares," said Major Robert Reel, The Salvation Army's Western Pennsylvania Divisional Commander. "Our organization can do so much more for so many children thanks to Channel Four and Joe's efforts."
The tribute begins with a reception at 6:00 pm showcasing a silent auction of 17 items, followed by a 7:00 pm dinner. Some of the special speakers include Channel 4 Action News Anchor Sally Wiggin, Channel 4 Action News Meteorologist Stephen Cropper, Mrs. Patricia Rooney, Mrs. Jeanne Caliguiri, WDVE Morning Funny Man Jimmy Krenn and Mr. Joe DeNardo. Individual tickets are available at $150. Ad space is still available in the souvenir program book ranging from $100 to $5,000. "It is our hope that the public turns out to show their love and appreciation to Joe DeNardo," said Reel. "He has done a tremendous service to this community and this tribute is one small way we can show how much his contribution has meant to both The Salvation Army and those whom we serve."
