Money Raised Will Aid Hurricane Victims Through the American Red Cross

LOS ANGELES, Sept. 14 /PRNewswire/ -- K-EARTH 101-FM and KLSX 97.1-FM jointly announced Tuesday, September 13th, a special benefit concert to help the victims of Hurricane Katrina. The show is scheduled for Sunday, September 25, from 4 pm - 10 pm at the Greek Theater in Griffith Park, Los Angeles.

Confirmed to perform are the Beach Boys, Frankie Valli, Dick Dale, Dean Torrance, the Surfaris, and Mary Wilson, with additional entertainers to be announced.

"Music is the great unifier that brings people together in love, spirituality, sadness and joy. K-EARTH 101 is so thankful that these musical performers are donating their talents to help our southern neighbors, especially since their songs have been such an important part of the soundtrack of Southern California and The Greatest Hits On Earth at K-EARTH 101!" said Maureen Lesourd, Vice President/General Manager of K-EARTH 101-FM.

Tickets go on-sale at Ticketmaster outlets and ticketmaster.com this morning at 10 am. Tickets are only $40.00 and Ticketmaster has graciously waived all additional service charges for this special event. A very limited number of VIP packages will also be available for $100.00, which includes a chance to meet some of the artists.

"So many times the Red Cross has been of invaluable assistance, helping those in desperate need as tragedies occur. It adds another level to what we are able to do as entertainers when we are able to participate in an event whose purpose is to raise money for such an outstanding organization," said singer Mike Love of the Beach Boys.

"With so many people displaced, it's very easy to help, and Infinity Broadcasting believes the American Red Cross is the best place to put the money where it will do the most good," said Jack Silver, Program Director of KLSX-FM and Operation Manager of K-EARTH 101. "We plan to be presenting a big check at the end of the evening."

To date, the organization has provided overnight housing for over 207,000 hurricane survivors and has opened 900 shelters. The American Red Cross has been serving an average of 400,000 hot meals a day for two weeks and to date have served nearly 10 million meals. Over 100,000 families and individuals have received Red Cross financial assistance to help with their urgent needs for food, clothing, emergency medicals items and shelter.

More than $700 million has been received by the Red Cross to help the victims of Hurricane Katrina but the full requirement is not yet known. American Red Cross disaster assistance is free, made possible by voluntary donations of time and money from the American people.

Concerned individuals can help the victims of this hurricane and thousands of other disasters across the country each year by making a financial gift to the American Red Cross Disaster Relief Fund which enables the Red Cross to provide shelter, food, counseling and other assistance to those in need.
