Pictures International are proud to announce that Tim Burton's critically acclaimed vision of Charlie and The Chocolate Factory opened in cinemas nationwide on Friday July 29th - and as the factory gates opened cinema-goers flocked to Roald Dahl's classic making it the second biggest opening weekend in 2005.

Filmed at Pinewood and Shepperton and on location in the UK, starring 13 year old English actor Freddie Highmore and continuing the unique collaboration of Johnny Depp and Tim Burton, Charlie and the Chocolate Factory marks Tim Burton's most successful UK opening to date.

Warner Bros. Pictures presents, in association with Village Roadshow Pictures, a Zanuck Company / Plan B Production of a Tim Burton Film: Johnny Depp stars in Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, based on the book by Roald Dahl, and also starring Freddie Highmore, David Kelly, Helena Bonham Carter, Noah Taylor, Missi Pyle, James Fox, with Deep Roy and Christopher Lee. Directed by Tim Burton from a screenplay by John August, the film is produced by Brad Grey and Richard D. Zanuck. Patrick McCormick, Felicity Dahl, Michael Siegel, Graham Burke and Bruce Berman executive produce.
