Credited as the architect of the DVD, Warren Lieberfarb has been an industry leader in new channels for distributing filmed entertainment. Instrumental in the development of pay television, home video and cable, he began his career at Paramount Pictures and Twentieth Century Fox before heading Warner Home Video for nearly twenty years. He is currently the president and chief executive officer of Warren N. Lieberfarb & Associates, a media, entertainment and technology-consulting firm.

The Financial Times dubbed Lieberfarb "Warner's Man of Steel," and also wrote, "Without his commitment and sharp elbows, the market would probably still be waiting for the DVD explosion. At best, digitally recorded films would be available in a muddle of incompatible formats." Wired magazine selected him as "one of the 20 people reinventing Hollywood," and in 2001, Entertainment Weekly named Lieberfarb one of the "101 Most Powerful People in Entertainment."

In 1999, the Academy of Television Arts and Sciences presented him with an Emmy Award for the development of DVD technology. Last year, Lieberfarb was the first recipient of the Wharton/Infosys "Technology Change Agent" award for his pioneering efforts in developing and bringing the DVD to market.

Lieberfarb serves on the board of trustees, and on the board's nominating and development committees, of the University of Pennsylvania. He is on the undergraduate executive board of The Wharton School. He serves on the board of directors and the board of trustees of the American Film Institute, chairing its entrepreneurial committee, and on the board of directors of DTS (Digital Theatre Systems, Inc.) Mr. Lieberfarb is a member of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences.
