Los Angeles City Slicker Wins Rodeo by Hundredths of a Second
NASHVILLE, Tenn., July 22 /PRNewswire/ -- An unlikely winner, Los Angeles resident and city slicker Sal Williams wins the title of "top cowboy," $25,000 and a champion belt buckle in the nail-biting finale of COWBOY U: TEXAS, which premiered on CMT July 22. After two weeks of an intense cowboy "boot camp," the remaining city slickers were challenged in a final rodeo that came down to a battle of strength and heart.
Sal emerged early on as a natural disaster on horseback. Reduced to tears in only the second episode, Sal was better known for his ability to talk nonstop. Winning the final rodeo by only hundredths of a second, he proves that heart can overcome physical prowess.
Born in Newark, NJ, Sal has always been a survivor. He overcame a difficult childhood and today he works as a music director at Inglewood Community Church and mentors teens.
In COWBOY U: TEXAS, four men and four women battle each other for top cowboy from the rugged hills of West Texas. It's no summer camp as the contestants learn to ride a horse, wrestle steer, barrel race and ultimately - ride a live bull. The mental and physical challenges test their limits and only the strong survive when city slickers learn to become real working ranch cowboys.
CMT will air all eight episodes of COWBOY U: TEXAS in a back-to-back marathon on Sunday, July 24 beginning at 6:00 PM, ET/PT.
