Stephanie Liston has been appointed as a Non-Executive Director of Ofcom.
A senior lawyer with extensive experience in the international communications sector, Stephanie is currently a partner in Wilmer Cutler Pickering Hale and Dorr LLP, where she co-leads the European Communications and E-Commerce Group.
A qualified lawyer in the US and the UK, she is on the Board of Directors of the European Competitive Telecommunications Association (ECTA), is co-chairman of the Communications Committee of the International Bar Association and the co-founder of Women in Telecoms and Technology. Stephanie has advised on strategic regulatory issues, contractual negotiations and commercial transactions for numerous companies in the UK, European and international communications sector.

Ofcom is an independent statutory corporation accountable to Parliament. With Stephanie Liston's appointment, the Ofcom Board will consist of six Non-Executive Directors and three Executive Directors.
Non-Executive Directors:
- Lord Currie of Marylebone (Chairman) - Richard Hooper (Deputy Chairman and Chairman of the Content Board) - Millie Banerjee - Stephanie Liston - Ian Hargreaves - Sara Nathan
Executive Directors:
- Stephen Carter (Chief Executive) - Kip Meek - Ed Richards
The appointment was made in accordance with the Code of Practice set out by the Office of the Commissioner for Public Appointments (OCPA) and has been subject to full and open competition and independent scrutiny.
Non-Executive Directors of the Ofcom Board (including the Chairman) are appointed jointly by the Secretary of State for Trade and Industry and the Secretary of State for Culture, Media and Sport, on a 3 to 5 year term, under the provisions of the Office of Communications Act 2002. The time commitment on this appointment is up to two days per week, for which a remuneration of £40,206 per annum will be made.
The Chief Executive is appointed by the Nominations Committee of the Board, which includes the Chairman and an Independent Assessor. The other two Executive Directors of the Board are appointed on the recommendation of the Chief Executive and approved by the Non-Executive Directors.
