KEXP Launches Music Podcasts Today

KEXP Launches Music Podcasts Today

SEATTLE, July 21 /PRNewswire/ -- KEXP 90.3/91.7FM and KEXP.ORG, Seattle's eclectic non-commercial music station now offers a podcast of full-length songs by fourteen Pacific Northwest artists, making it the first radio station to offer a music radio podcast of this scope. Today's podcast begins a series of music podcasts by independent musicians.

KEXP is also offering its first podcast of a live in-studio performance. The acclaimed Seattle hip hop trio Boom Bap Project is appearing live on KEXP at Noon today, and a podcast of the performance will be available at KEXP.ORG later today. KEXP offers over 200 live in-studio performances a year and plans on making more of them available as podcasts in the near future.

KEXP offers these two new services through iTunes 4.9 podcast section and KEXP.ORG.

KEXP makes local music a regular part of its daily programming, and with its long-standing weekly show dedicated to local artists, Audioasis, KEXP's first podcast is appropriately a collection of songs from musicians hailing from the Pacific Northwest. KEXP Northwest Music Podcast, Vol. 1, the debut of a monthly series, was produced by John Richards, host of John In The Morning and producer of Audioasis. Richards also shares his insight in the podcast.

"KEXP champions the Pacific Northwest artist. We play local music hourly day in and day out and connect hundreds of local bands to their first audiences throughout the world by broadcasting performances live every week. By applying this new portable technology, our listeners now can take along KEXP and local artists wherever they go," said John Richards, host of John In The Morning.

"We thank members of Seattle music scene for believing in this project and providing permission to share their work," Richards added.
