RELM's New APCO Project 25 Digital Mobile Radio Receives FCC Type Acceptance

WEST MELBOURNE, Fla., June 29 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- RELM Wireless Corporation (BULLETIN BOARD: RELM) today announced that its new digital mobile radio, the BK Radio DMH, has received type acceptance and approval from the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) for use in the United States. The DMH is compliant with the Project 25 standard (P25) established by the Association of Public-Safety Communications Officials -- International (APCO).

"The arrival of the DMH is an important addition to our P25 product line with a range of opportunities for growth primarily in public safety, homeland security and government markets. We expect all our P25 products to drive accelerating growth in the months and years ahead," commented RELM President and CEO, David Storey.

"The DMH expands our core VHF digital product offerings, which now include mobile and portable radios, along with base stations and repeaters -- all in compliance with the rigorous APCO Project 25 specifications," Storey continued. "From the customers' viewpoints, this family of digital products offers superior audio quality and clarity, rock-solid reliability, and ease of use with a price substantially below competitors' products," Storey said.

Small and compact, the new BK Radio DMH digital mobile radio provides 400 channels with 25 user groups and 16 channels per group in the 136-174 MHz VHF frequency band for digital, analog and mixed-mode operation. Options include DES/AES encryption as well as standard dash-mount or remote-mount configurations. RELM Wireless also offers a trade-in program for customers with BK Radio E Series and G Series analog mobile radios with customers receiving credit toward the purchase of new DMH digital mobile radios.

"In addition to BK Radio P25 digital products, we have our premier high-specification analog radio products, including the BK Radio G Series portable and mobile radios. We also have RELM-brand products, including new mobile radios, at lowest cost, and we recently added the new Relm/BK 3000 series combining the rich functionality associated with the BK Radio brand and the lower-cost factor associated with the RELM brand," Storey added.

"Our business and product development strategies are on track," Storey concluded. "And we are looking forward to additional new products later this year."
