RealAge, Inc. Teams With BBC for UK Television Special, 'Are You Younger Than You Think?'
'Live' Two-Hour, Interactive Television Event Premieres on BBC One in July
NEW YORK, June 29 /PRNewswire/ -- RealAge, Inc., one of the leading health destinations on the internet and acclaimed as "one of the most influential sites" on the web to provide information and solutions to help people live longer and healthier lives, has teamed up with the BBC for an interactive special entitled, "Are You Younger Than You Think?" The 'live,' two-hour, in-studio television event will turn the popular RealAge Test on the British in-studio audience and at-home viewers to calculate whether or not they are biologically younger or older than their calendar age -- i.e. their RealAge.
This is the second time the popular global RealAge brand has been utilized for a European broadcast event. "Je Echte Leeftjid" (Dutch for "Your Real Age") will begin its fourth season later this year on RTL 4, the largest station in the Netherlands. Since its premiere, more than 1.5 million people have completed the Dutch version of the RealAge Test, with 24% of their population tuning in for the program. "Are You Younger Than You Think?" is scheduled to premiere in the UK on BBC One in July, but Americans can take the RealAge Test for free at http://www.realage.com/ .
"We are very excited to embark on this venture with the BBC," says Charles Silver, Chairman and CEO of RealAge. "RealAge is a leader in helping people live longer, healthier lives in an understandable, entertaining platform -- and broadcasters are recognizing the power of that brand."
Hosted by Des Lynman and several celebrity commentators, "Are You Younger Than You Think?" will have a 'live' studio audience that represents a sample of the UK population, allowing the test results to be statistically projected as the RealAge for the entire country. The show will be a call-to-action and will showcase the results for the audience and that of the UK. Hot health topics include lowering cholesterol levels and decreasing blood pressure, and behavioral topics such as increasing physical activity, gaining better nutrition, sex, and dental hygiene. Viewers will be simultaneously encouraged to take the scientifically valid RealAge Test as well, so both the in-studio and at-home audience can gain a healthy benefit from the program.
The patented RealAge Test is always available for free at http://www.realage.com/ , but a special UK version will also be available three different ways for the BBC event: on the BBC website, I-TV (Interactive TV), and included in a free standing insert in a local newspaper(s) on the day of the broadcast, for those who do not have access to the Internet or I-TV.
San Diego-based RealAge, Inc. provides information and solutions to help people live healthier, longer lives through an integration of media, products and services. Since 1999, over 12-million people have taken the patented RealAge Test, which is widely accepted as the Gold standard for measuring individual health status.
