Jonathan Sobel Named Senior Vice President, Strategy and Business Development, CBS Digital Media
Veteran New Media Executive to Oversee Digital Rights, M&A Activity and Forge New Partnerships
SAN FRANCISCO, June 28 /PRNewswire/ -- Jonathan Sobel has been named Senior Vice President, Strategy and Business Development, CBS Digital Media, it was announced today by Larry Kramer, President of the division. Sobel, a veteran new media executive who previously served as Senior Vice President, Secretary and General Counsel at Yahoo!, will oversee all matters pertaining to digital rights, M&A targets and new partnerships for the division. He will also serve as the liaison for CBS Digital on relationships with Internet portals, wireless applications and digital spectrum.
Sobel, who will be based in San Francisco, will report directly to Kramer. He starts today.

Sobel most recently served as a partner in the San Francisco law firm of Folger Levin & Kahn LLP, where he was responsible for transactional work and litigation for established and emerging companies. Before that, he served as Senior Vice President, Secretary and General Counsel of Yahoo!, where he supported the Company's Board of Directors and led the company's worldwide legal and government affairs teams. Sobel also served on the company's six-person Executive Committee. He joined Yahoo! as one of the company's first attorneys, and in a variety of roles assisted the company throughout both its early days and its successful rebuilding in mergers and acquisitions, strategic relationships, corporate governance, operations, new media opportunities, and a variety of novel policy issues. He has broad and deep experience in forging relationships and in working with emerging technologies.
Before joining Yahoo!, Sobel practiced law in San Francisco and held posts as an attorney at Chips and Technologies, Inc. and Electronics for Imaging, Inc.
