Gameloft Signs a Licensing Agreement for the Animated Series, "Totally Spies"
PARIS, April 7/PRNewswire/ -- Gameloft, a top developer and publisher of games for mobile phones, announced an exclusive licensing agreement today with Marathon, one of the main producers and distributors of French television, for an upcoming mobile game inspired by the animated series Totally Spies.
Totally Spies is an animated series that enjoys worldwide success.
Sam, Alex and Clover, three young college students from Beverly Hills, find themselves thrust into the thrilling world of international espionage. Thanks to their respective talents, the three heroines must meet a formidable challenge: balance school with the fast paced lives of secret agents!
Broadcast on every continent in nearly 200 countries, the series is aired by top networks during prime time slots for the show's target audience (Cartoon Network US, TF1, Jetix Europe, Pro7, Channel 4, Mediaset Rete Italia 4, ITV, Teletoon Canada, Nickelodeon Australia, TV Tokyo).
Totally Spies is aired two to three times a day on the Cartoon Network, the second most popular youth network in the United States, and has more than 1.6 million viewers daily. The series was such a success that last December, the Cartoon network extended its publicity campaign to target the entire United States.
It is also the number one series in France on TF1 and Jetix (4-12 years, Source Actukids Médiamétrie February 05).
Studies and ratings surveys completed in France by Actukids-Mediametre and Ipsos, in the USA by Nielsen, and in the UK by BARB/ATR, have also proved that although Totally Spies has won millions of fans among girls between 6 and 13 years of age, the series is also watched by many boys.
Totally Spies is, in fact, the first French animated series to have popularised the super-hero trend among young girls. It is this innovation that explains its success with the two target groups.
"This exclusive licensing deal is recognition for the success of Totally Spies, which has crossed the threshold of international success, not only with its broadcasts, but also in its intensive licensing program," said Vincent Chalvon-Demersay, Marathon's president
"By signing this agreement, Gameloft expands its horizons with respect to gaming genres and is targeting key early adopters," says Karine Kaiser, Gameloft's Deputy Director of Marketing. "Mobile games will appeal to children because of their simplicity, accessibility, shorter playing sessions and modest price. The depth of the Totally Spies show ensures that we will offer this target a game which will delight and enthral them. Furthermore, their parents will also be tempted to join the growing number of mobile gamers."
This agreement was negotiated by TV FOR MOBILE, headed by Claire Leproust, in its capacity as Media Mobile agency for Marathon.
