Zuma Beach Entertainment Signs Aquafina Licensing Agreement
MALIBU, Calif., April 6 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Zuma Beach Entertainment ("Zuma") and recently acquired Marcu Music Company ("Marcu") today announced that they signed a licensing agreement that permits the use of the Academy Award Winning song "(I've had) The Time of My Life," in a sixty- second Aquafina commercial. The Aquafina brand has licensed use of the song for $190,000 plus performance royalties/revenues. "This is the beginning of a cycle of recurring revenue that will begin streaming into Zuma," said Daniel P. Cannon, Chairman and CEO. "We are delighted to have our song associated with such a high quality consumer product that is currently featured as part of a comprehensive sponsorship and marketing campaign."
Aquafina, the country's top-selling bottled water, is a product of Pepsi- Cola North America, the $4 billion refreshment beverage unit of PepsiCo (NYSE:PEP) in the United States and Canada. PepsiCo Beverages North America announced in their 2004 Financial Results that their non-carbonated beverage volume growth of almost 10% was led by double-digit growth in Aquafina and Gatorade.
Aquafina was first introduced in Wichita, Kansas, in 1994 and reached national distribution in 1997. Since its debut, Aquafina has won over consumers with its great taste and purity. Aquafina is the "Official Bottled Water" of AVP Pro Beach Volleyball, proud sponsor of the PGA of America, the Atlantic Coast Conference (ACC), the Arizona Diamondbacks baseball club and Team Aquafina Women's Cycling, the first-ever women's pro-am cycling and triathlon team in the United States. Aquafina is currently America's #1 selling bottled water brand in measured retail channels.

Zuma recently acquired Marcu's share of the revenues and was assigned exclusive rights to income of the net publishing share derived from the licenses and music rights, contracts and royalties from the 1987 Academy Award winning song, "(I've had) The Time of My Life," co-written by Donald Markowitz for the 1987 hit motion picture, "Dirty Dancing."
Markowitz won the Academy Award & Golden Globe for Best Original Song - "(I've Had) The Time of My Life" from the hit motion picture "Dirty Dancing." Dirty Dancing has just begun a world tour as a theatrical musical to sell-out crowds in Australia and is on its way to Broadway. The movie has grossed over $170 million to date, making it one of the most profitable independent films of all time. Musically, Dirty Dancing re-wrote record books in the music industry and became a phenomenon all its own, launching two different multi- platinum soundtracks. Sixteen years after its initial release and three follow-up releases, the film's soundtrack has sold over 32 million units worldwide.
