Cineflex Demos Latest Aerial High Def Camera Platform at NAB2005; Dual Sensor System to Launch This Summer

Cineflex Demos Latest Aerial High Def Camera Platform at NAB2005; Dual Sensor System to Launch This Summer

Super Bowl, Daytona 500 Join News Broadcasters Using Cineflex(R) HiDEF for Live TV Production; Law Enforcement Deploys for Aerial Surveillance

LOS ANGELES, April 4 /PRNewswire/ -- Cineflex, LLC, an engineering, design and manufacturing company specializing in motion control camera systems, will demonstrate its groundbreaking Cineflex(R)HiDEF aerial camera system at NAB2005, April 16-21 in Las Vegas. The Cineflex(R)HiDEF is the world's lightest, gyro-stabilized high-definition aerial camera system and the first to capture and transmit aerial high definition images for live broadcast. The company also announced plans to introduce the first dual sensor, high-definition/infrared aerial camera system this summer.

In addition to demonstrating the Cineflex HiDEF at the booth, HD monitors will display a live HD feed from a helicopter-mounted Cineflex system high above the Las Vegas Strip. Attendees can also see the live feed at the Sony (Booth# SU6406), Microwave Radio Communications (Booth# C3007), Troll Systems (Booth # C1427) and Cineflex (Booth# C11421) booths.

The Cineflex(R)HiDEF is in use by network television affiliates in Los Angeles, New York, Denver, Phoenix, Sacramento and San Francisco for their electronic news gathering (ENG) operations and was recently used in conjunction with a Cablecam camera suspension system to provide live, high-definition images during NASCAR's Daytona 500 race and this year's Super Bowl.

"Because the quality of HD images is so high, the stabilization aspect of any aerial system is incredibly important," said John Coyle, founder of Cineflex. "The Cineflex HiDEF offers broadcasters the ability to gather HD footage from a fast-moving helicopter thousands of feet up that is as steady as what you get from a stationary studio camera."

Designed by Coyle, the Cineflex HiDEF is built around Sony's HDC-950 and HDC-F950 cameras and is the latest in Cineflex's line of gyro-stabilized aerial camera systems. Users can broadcast live, high-definition images via an encrypted microwave downlink system.

In addition to television broadcasting, the Cineflex HiDEF is in use by local and federal law enforcement agencies for aerial surveillance in multiple cities. Most recently, the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department deployed the Cineflex HiDEF as part of the city's New Year's Eve security measures. The motion picture industry has also adopted the Cineflex HiDEF. Most recently the system was used in the filming of upcoming Hollywood action films, "Domino" and "The Island."

New Dual Sensor

Scheduled to debut this summer, Cineflex's dual-sensor gimbal is the first aerial system to combine a high definition camera with an infrared camera in a single package. Designed primarily for the law enforcement market, the new system represents a significant advancement beyond the current paradigm of deploying a conventional camera system during the day and a different IR system at night. In addition to eliminating the time consuming process of continually mounting and unmounting the different systems, the dual sensor brings a level of detail to low light settings that was previously unobtainable.

Senior Cineflex executives will be available at the booth to provide demonstrations and to discuss the Cineflex(R) HiDEF and the upcoming dual sensor system in further detail.
