Cingular's Mobi-MLB.com Gameday Audio service provides subscribers with access to more than 2,500 MLB games with the same audio broadcast available on radio. This agreement with MLB Advanced Media (MLBAM) delivers unlimited access to subscribers who can choose up to 30 feeds each day with the option to select their home team announcers.
"This new audio service from Cingular Wireless is perfect for all baseball fans on the go," said Roger Clemens, Houston Astros. "Cingular customers now have access to every game, every day, directly from their Cingular Wireless phone. Now no one, not even my wife and kids, have an excuse to miss a game!"
Mobi-MLB.com Gameday Audio will be available to Cingular customers using the Motorola V180, Motorola V220, Motorola V400, Motorola V600, Motorola V3 (RAZR), Sony Ericsson Z500a and the Nokia 6620. The service will be available on additional handsets throughout the baseball season.
"With the increased mobility of today's baseball fans the convergence of wireless and Major League Baseball is a perfect fit," said Jim Ryan, vice president of data product management for Cingular Wireless. "The Cingular Mobi-MLB.com Gameday Audio service provides our customers with access to listen live to every Major League Baseball game played, directly from their wireless phone for the first time. Now, avid baseball fans will never have to miss a game."
"Our partnership with MobiTV allows us to expand our customer distribution by making games available to all Major League Baseball fans through their wireless phones," stated George Kliavkoff, senior vice president of business development for MLBAM. "Mobi-MLB.com Gameday Audio gives us the ability to deliver live audio to Cingular's subscribers and enables us to be on the leading edge of the next big media outlet for broadcast - mobile phones."
Cingular's MobiTV subscribers will also have two new MLB related channels included in their current subscription (at no extra charge), including a post game video highlights and Atlanta Braves channel, where subscribers catch the live audio broadcast for each of Cingular's hometown team games.
"As the demand for live TV on wireless phones continues to grow, so has the need to stay connected to America's favorite past time," said Phillip Alvelda, CEO and chairman of MobiTV, Inc. "This offering will help Cingular to meet the increased consumer demands for premium, mobile entertainment content."
Mobi-MLB.com Gameday Audio can be purchased directly from a Cingular wireless phone. To do this, the consumer should:
- Go to MEdia Net home - Select Sports - Select Mobi-MLB Gameday - Follow the onscreen prompt to get Mobi-MLB Gameday Audio
After downloading the service, Mobi-MLB.com Gameday Audio will be launched from the phone's Main Menu.
The fee for Mobi-MLB.com Gameday Audio on the Cingular network is $9.99 per month, and the company is offering a free three-day trial so prospective customers can "Try Before You Buy." Because Mobi-MLB uses data, not voice minutes, customers will also need a MEdia Package subscription to avoid data charges. The $24.99 per month unlimited MEdia Net package is recommended.
B-roll footage of Roger Clemens and the Mobi-MLB.com Gameday Audio service will be available today at 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. ET.
