The Cars Choose Paid, Inc. Celebrity Services to Manage Fan Club
WORCESTER, Mass., April 4 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Paid, Inc.'s (BULLETIN BOARD: PAYD) Celebrity Services division, has signed a two-year agreement with the band The Cars to establish and manage all aspects of the band's official fan club and official fan club web site, including coordinating with the band's online marketing initiatives, fan experience events and creating online merchandising programs. The Cars, America's most successful new wave band, was formed by Benjamin Orr, Ric Ocasek, Elliot Easton, Greg Hawkes and David Robinson in Boston in 1976 and dominated the radio airwaves from the late '70s through the early '80s.
"We are pleased to enter this new relationship with Paid's Celebrity Services. The Cars continue to have a significant, dedicated fan base, so we are excited to finally have an official web site and an official fan club for them," said Elliot Easton. "We are hopeful that this will provide us with a unique opportunity to reach out to our fans and for them to reach us. It's long overdue."
"The millions of Cars' fans worldwide who grew up jamming with 'Just What I Needed,' 'Magic,' 'Drive,' 'You Might Think,' 'My Best Friend's Girl,' and 'Shake It Up,' are now at points in their lives where they have more disposable income and more time to revisit the music of their adolescence and early adult years," said Kristen Kuliga, VP of Paid, Inc. Celebrity Services division. "We have seen the success of Duran Duran, Motley Crue and Van Halen over the past several years. The Cars arguably have an equally impressive following as these groups."
Paid, Inc.'s creative team will work closely with its artists to develop cutting edge fan club activities and unique fan experiences that will engage and build loyalty among fans year round. Activities for The Cars fans may include everything from contests, to give-aways, online chats and limited- edition memorabilia, online celebrity interaction, contests and special events. By making fans the priority, Paid is building the long-term relationships that foster and sustain true fan loyalty.
"We move beyond the cookie-cutter approach to take fan experiences to new levels," said Greg Rotman, CEO of Paid, Inc. "Rather than just providing a membership card and access to tickets and backstage passes when bands tour, Paid seeks to develop fan experience events with the band members that just aren't available through other fan clubs. With other clients, we've had contests where the winners had exclusive lunches with a band member, we've hosted live chats with the band members for fans worldwide with instantaneous translation into five languages, and we've had a merchandise design contest where a band member actually wore the winner's item on stage. We believe these types of 'outside the box' activities will be particularly appreciated by more mature, discriminating fans who look beyond the hype and seek true entertainment and value in a fan club. We have the exciting opportunity to do the same with The Cars."
The contract with The Cars marks an additional milestone in Paid, Inc.'s previously announced strategy to expand its Celebrity Services division into the music and entertainment industries. Initiatives such as this are expected to generate millions in revenues over the term of the contract. Paid currently provides fan club management and other services to celebrities including Aerosmith, Deion Branch, Doug Flutie and numerous professional football, baseball, basketball, hockey and boxing celebrities.
