TOPLINE URBANWORKS Completes Principal Photography of 'Virginia'
WEST HOLLYWOOD, Calif., March 8 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- TOPLINE URBANWORKS LLC has announced that it completed principal photography March 6th 2005 and is now in post-production of their second indie-film project titled "Virginia," written by Kevin Bernhardt (The Charm School, Way of the Peaceful Warrior, Shi).
"Virginia," a contemporary version of a female Huck Finn and set in modern day Los Angeles during the holiday season, is the story of what happens when a child named VIRGINIA, played by Ms. Paige Hurd, (Beauty Shop, Time Out, Cat In The Hat, Cradle To The Grave) is abandoned by her mother KELLY, played by Yeniffer Behrens, (A Day Without A Mexican) a heroin addict, seeking to get better, leaving her in the questionable hands of her boyfriend GRIFFIN, Godfrey Danchimah, (Soul Plane, Johnson Family Vacation, Zoolander, The Cook Out, and former 7-UP pitch man).
Griffin, a reluctant stepfather figure takes the 11 year-old Ginny in search of her biological father, ROSS MORE, played by Dwight Hicks, (The Rock, Armageddon), except they don't know what he looks like or where to find him. Together they set out on a rollicking journey through Koreatown, her father's last known address, hustling every sucker in sight and proving time and time again that no matter how much money you make, it's no fun unless you're making it with somebody you love. "Virginia" has a feeling of something like "Paper Moon" meets "Fight Club."
The producers of "Virginia," Humberto Arechiga, Herbert Dogan and Nigel Miguel, are extremely excited about the films potential and plan for a theatrical release just in time for the holidays in late 2005.
Scott Weissman, Herbert Dogan, and Humberto Arechiga created TOPLINE URBANWORKS in October 2003. "Virginia" is the second film, which TOPLINE is credited with producing, and is currently in pre-production of their next two projects, "Giving Chase" with Blair Underwood set to topline and "Cafe America" with Kristoff St. John set to direct.
Financing for the project was provided in part through TOPLINE CAPITAL VENTURES, a newly created entertainment finance company co-owned by TOPLINE URBANWORKS and Cardinal Capital.Net Inc.
TOPLINE URBANWORKS is a real independent production company with a mission to merge top quality film projects with minority talents for both above and below-the-line positions.
