Tribune Names Tom Langmyer VP/General Manager of WGN Radio, Chicago
CHICAGO, March 8 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Tribune Company (NYSE:TRB) today named veteran broadcast executive Tom Langmyer vice president/general manager of Chicago's WGN Radio (720 AM), effective March 21. Langmyer was previously vice president/general manager of KMOX-AM in St. Louis and national vice president/programming for Infinity Broadcasting's 10 news/talk radio stations.
"Tom's knowledge of the news-talk-sports format and his experience in managing a market-leading station make him an excellent fit for WGN," said Steve Carver, vice president/general manager of WATL-TV (WB36) in Atlanta. "He is a proven leader who understands the Midwest region. He'll do a terrific job at leading the strong team at WGN." Carver oversees WGN Radio in addition to his responsibilities at WATL-TV and led the search for the new general manager.
Langmyer joined KMOX-AM in 1992, first serving as the station's program director. He later became operations director and was named vice president/general manager in 2003. Previously, he was operations director at WSYR-AM and WYYY-FM in Syracuse, N.Y., from 1986 to 1992. Before that, he worked at WGR-AM/FM in Buffalo, N.Y., from 1982 to 1986, ultimately becoming the station's program manager and airborne traffic pilot and reporter. He began his career at WBEN-AM in Buffalo.

A native of Buffalo, N.Y., Langmyer holds a bachelor's degree in communication from Grove City College in Grove City, Pa. He serves on the board of directors of the St. Louis Regional Chamber and Growth Association and the Urban League of Greater St. Louis. He also served as honorary chairman of the Catholic Charities Christmas Appeal for the Archdiocese of Saint Louis.
