Classic Rock 102.9 - WMGK Collecting Supplies and Money to Benefit the Students of the Alphabet Academy Fire

PHILADELPHIA, March 8 /PRNewswire/ -- Classic Rock 102.9 - WMGK Radio has partnered with Sovereign Bank and Local 98 IBEW to collect monetary donations and school supplies for the students of the South Philadelphia pre-school, Alphabet Academy. WMGK is encouraging listeners to show their support for the school affected by the recent fire, by dropping off monetary donations and pre-school supplies Friday, March 11th from 2 p.m. - 7 p.m. at Juliana's Coffee Shop - 1523 E. Passyunk Ave. (11th and Passyunk) in South Philadelphia.

On the morning of February 7, 2005, fire broke out on the third floor of the South Philly pre-school, Alphabet Academy. All 59 children and 17 adults in the building at the time safely escaped, but the school lost most of the supplies used to teach and entertain the children. WMGK afternoon personality Andre Gardner will broadcast live on Friday to promote the help of the community to get the school back on its feet.

Listeners are encouraged to drop off their monetary donations and school supplies (i.e. books, arts & crafts materials, games, etc.) at Juliana's Coffee Shop Friday, March 11th between 2 p.m. and 7 p.m. Additional information on making donations can be found at http://www.wmgk.com/. WMGK welcomes corporate as well as individual contributions of various dominations. If the fundraising efforts would present an opportunity to conduct a live news segment WMGK would be willing to accommodate any television media.

WMGK is owned by Greater Media, Inc., the parent company of 19 AM and FM radio stations in the Boston, Detroit, New Jersey and Philadelphia markets. It also owns a modern printing plant and a group of weekly newspapers in central New Jersey as well as several telecommunications towers located throughout the United States.
