Paul Korda whose songs have charted around the globe has been facing homelessness

On August 6th 2015 Paul Korda became the respondent in an Unlawful Detainer action in Department 64 at LA's Stanley Mosk Superior Court. He was and still is suffering from several chronic illnesses and his doctor has warned of serious consequences to his health should he suffer eviction. Angela Kauffman at the Department of Disability that is attached to Mayor Gil Garcetti's office expressed her concern at the many elder and disabled that are suffering eviction now.

Paul was represented by Sarah E. Truesdale at
Public Counsel Homelessness Prevention Law Project with further counsel, Bryant Yang, who both made the case for "Reasonable Accommodation" due to Paul Korda's chronic illnesses, was unable to go through the arduous process of finding a reasonably priced rental in Hollywood, due to his mobility problems.
and Hollywood's newly found tourism status.

His
landlords, after almost a year of persevering in throwing Paul Korda out, rather than allowing him to remain in his home, found little comfort from the Judge and were forced to file a readjusted case to recover the back rent they had refused to accept, and rather than face a jury trial for Reasonable Accommodation which they may have lost, and Paul Korda, rather than remain under the further stress of a public trial, as his health was severely failing, having multiple admissions into various hospitals intensive Care Units, decided to settle, by leaving the apartment by July 1st 2016

He tried to apply for many apartments, but apartment rents in Hollywood were far too expensive and landlords told him he needed to earn three times his rent, which as a disabled elder was too expensive.

The current behavior over housing in Los Angeles exhibits "a profit take precedent" over Humanities needs."In the 60's and 70's, when I first arrived in Hollywood, the celebrity in the movie and music industries was far less important than the art itself. I remember trying to hitch a ride to the bank, and Mama Cass from the Mamas and the Papas stopped for me and took me there. Now celebrity and money have turned Hollywood into a much harsher and more criminal place that is driving up the cost of survival here, and quite frankly has made life here unpleasant.

In the next few days Paul Korda leaves for Europe to be with his sons and leave behind over 40 years living in Hollywood, for the gentler environment of the English countryside.
